  1. I'm having a similar issue, wall texture set to component, window symbol set to return exterior texture (1 component), shows correctly in plan, but not in 3d rendering... unless the wall is set to render the exterior texture. is there a way to have the component return render with the component texture?
  2. I cannot find this file.... anywhere...
  3. Im nor sure if this is the same or similar problem. windows and doors inserted in walls, the 2d shows the exterior finish wrapping properly, but when rendered in 3d, the individual components render - instead of how one would expect the 2d to render. wall components are set to render. Setting the Object Info mode to "By Object" does change the window cut to render properly, but the inside face of the wall changes to a different texture. and not one that shows up in either the Class or Wall Styles Edit information. help please. Bill
  4. seems like they could have done a simple cut and paste... but then any fool could add an avatar.
  5. after a very long two days and nights... went into "Time Machine" found the last file that rendered, went through everything I had added, deleting then seeing if would at least not set the computer spinning (that horrid little rainbow thingie). and after a few hours found a 3d solid that apparently the system did not like at all. deleted it. But viewport update still ran out of memory.... and so, set up the viewport, changed the preferences to save 3 last... sheet set to 200dpi, custom render, 1 reflection. saved the file, closed the file, quit VW, restarted the computer. Opened the file, hit "update viewport" and it rendered smoothly. did it again for each of the 8 viewports... finished just in time to run to the printer. is there an easier way to do this? Bill
  6. Oh, and I can get the model to render on a "saved sheet" without a viewport... and so I'm using the workaround, render, save as a jpeg, then import to a blank sheet... well, it works better than the viewport seems to. the problem seems to be with the final dump of information changing the wireframe to the rendered image... back to work. Bill
  7. I'm having a similar problem, after getting the "one or more VP could not be rendered..." followed by "one or more operations aborted due to lack of memeory..." I went out and bought a bigger machine. Mac Pro, 2 x 2.8 GHZ Quad Core Intel Xeon Processores (that is 8 of them) 14 GB 800 mhz hard drive 14 gb ram NVIDIA Geforce 8800GT video card... the file is 368 mb running on VW 2008 SP3 viewport size 3'x1', custom render with 1 reflection dpi set to 100 (only 100) and still get the same message... presentation tomorrow, and the drawings are locked in the program. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH !!!!! anyone getting this to work? Bill
  8. Figured it out (just keep on clicking options until it works) In preferences trace path to the old keynote file as before, but it is now necessary to select "update" in the box to the right. another Duhhhh.... moment. but maybe if I had received a printed instruction manual... Bill
  9. In VW 2008, Is there a way to import the database for keynotes from VW12? And I'm unable to update a database created in VW12. Bill
  10. Well, I had never tried saved views - that works great for what I want it to do. Thank you for the information. Bill
  11. I'm just now beginning to understand viewports, and thinking that it would be extremely helpful to have an organization category which functions in the same way as a viewport but for 2d information. For example, a typical drawing sheet that has the ability to select specific design layers. I tend to compose a drawing from design layers (and now viewports) Bill
  12. Like the line tool, with "constrained" and "unconstrained", it would be helpful to have that option for walls.
  13. I wish a setting on Preference which can enlarge text size on Data dialog box. Current text size extremely too small for 30" monitor user with 2560 x1600 resolution seems like a simple enough request.
  14. It would be very useful to be able to create a polygon, using rectangles and circles, and convert it to a building pad. The current tool is akward. Also a more controled modification of grading plans (3d model). Using 3d polylines to generate desired grading. Bill
  15. Using 12.5.1, and 3d resources no longer can be viewed as 3d symbols? prior to this edition, once edited as an elevation the default view of 3d symbols was as an elevation. Miss it a lot. can this be fixed? Bill
  16. Have experienced the same difficulty with line weights and doors... but was wondering, is there a way to cusomize the dimension of the "leaf' depiction? Attempting to use an 8' door with top panel 3'6", mid panel 9", bottom panel 1'7"? is there a way to generate a "custom door" template? Bill
  17. I was having this problem on a Mac, quad, try changing the monitor resolution from millions to thousands,
  18. well, I thought the problem was hardware so got a G5 quad processor with 8GB ram, and a fast graphics card.... and... OS 10.4.1 and Designer 12.0.1, and well... It is faster, BUT it doesn't always work, rendering freezing up... and it doesn't like to put stuff away - having to rebuild the directory every other day. Drawing with a pencil is looking good at this time in the morning. Bill
