Hanna N
I am doing a planting plan for trees. I would like to show the various trees as reference symbol on the side of my planting plan. It will make it easier for the gardeners to understand what trees go where. I don't want a plant tag on the tree symbols. I put the tree symbols next to the plan with a description. As a result I ended up with ONE extra tree in my plant report. Any ideas on how to do this in an easy way? Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
A better way might be to use a Graphic Legend as they are designed for this kind of thing. But if you've not time right now to learn a new thing you should place the reference symbols in their own class then exclude that class in the report criteria. 2 Quote Link to comment
Hanna N
Thank you Tom. Where do I find a tutorial on how to create graphic legends? Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Sarah Barrett did a good coffee break on them a little while ago: https://university.vectorworks.net/mod/overview/view.php?id=5180 2 Quote Link to comment
Amanda McDermott
We have found graphic legends not always flexible enough for our needs. What we tend to do is create keys using clipped viewports that just show e.g. one tree, and exclude other layers. (NB. Maybe teaching you to suck eggs, but we also tend to put all trees on a 'trees' layer of their own, so that you can have that sitting above everything else and not keep having to send them forward!). 1 Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
@Hanna N I do the same thing. The trick is to put your trees for the legend on a separate Design Layer and then set the criteria for the plant report look at everything except the Design Layer used for the legend graphics. This works well for all sorts of similar problems. 1 Quote Link to comment
