Hatch applied over all 3d objects in isometric view

HLJ

Question

Hi all, I have a strange issue in a file where in perspective view my walls, doors & windows all look fine. But in isometric view everything seems to have a hatch applied. Anyone know why this might be?

^ same view in perspective, no hatching

I've attached my VW file as well. Thanks for the help!

Your objects are way to far from the internal origin. If you need to geolocate your objects, you will need to put the drawing closer to VW internal origin and then set the user origin to display the proper dimension. As you get too far from the internal origin, the accuracy of a 64bit number is not sufficient for the accuracy that you need. Take a look at this file on origins and/or do a google search for Vectorworks origins for other posts and videos.

Hi Pat, thanks for replying.

I've done as you suggested and relocated the drawing to the VW internal origin, then set the user origin to match the georeference. But the issue is persisting.

^ this is how an elevation should look

^ but when you zoom in there's some kind of hatch applied over the wall texture and parts of the window

^ I thought the issue might be to do with textures, but removing the wall component textures and using only hatches still results in weird stuff... the hatch over the top seems to be gone, but now it's distorting the hatches and stuff.

Uploaded the VW file again: 2022-08-15.vwx

I'm trying to get the practice I work for to move from 2D to 3D, and the time it's taking to sort out this stuff isn't helping my argument that 3d is better 😬

Make everything, all Classes and Layers, visible.

and Zoom to drawing. If it disappears, you may still have

some forgotten Elements far away.

These produce the same problems as if your drawing is far away.

If so, try to Select all wanted geometry -> invert Selection > zoom to selection

until you found all lost geometry to relocate or delete.
