  1. That was it, thank you! I'd tried editing the custom leaf but hadn't thought to check the render settings in there for some reason For anyone else who might see this in the future: find the custom leaf in resource manager > edit 3d > select the door & any other components > Render tab > change texture to 'by class' > exit out and in the door settings, under classes, assign a class with the texture you want to the panels.
  2. Hi all, I have a door that I put in from the VW libraries, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to change its textures. Can anyone help me figure this out please? This is my door: Here's its class settings. As you can see I've tried changing the exterior panel to a class that has a grey texture applied, but whatever I do the door won't budge from its wood texture. Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks very much!
  3. Hi all, just wondering if this is possible - is there a way I can turn on the hatch background colour in hidden line view? I've gone into the applied hatches to give them all a background colour, but my viewport with hidden line view just shows as black & white (aside from annotations). Black & white only isn't turned on, and I can't see any settings anywhere to see hatch background fills. This is what I see (artistic renderworks background renderer for shadows, hidden line foreground renderer or linework): But the clients want a coloured elevation, something like this (previous project by colleagues, drawn in 2D): I'd really rather not have to manually apply colours as annotations in the viewport! Thanks! Edit: in case I'm just doing it wrong, this is how I've applied the colour background fill to hatches:
  4. Apologies for late reply, I thought I had replied to this. It was a driver issue on the PC; updated the drivers and all was fine. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
  5. Did you ever get anywhere with this? I'm aiming to start using Site Protection Server but would like to run it in the cloud rather than get an on-site server. It looks like you can connect to a virtual machine on azure with a VPN... if the VM can run vectorworks' site protection server then that might do the job.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion Pat. I've turned on internal origin visibility and it's in the middle of the drawing. Clicking Fit to Objects doesn't show any objects miles away from the origin either. I've tried the same file on my iMac and seems fine, so maybe this is a PC driver issue? The file worked the other day on the PC though. I'll check to see if there's been a driver update in the meantime that's messed things up.
  7. Hi all, A colleague has a problem with a file where the display flickers and then disappeared after zooming. Please see the gif below to explain: Using the zoom control, nothing shows at all. When zooming with the scroll wheel, the display briefly shows while zooming but then goes blank again. Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix? It only does it for this file, not any other files. VW2022 SP4. Thanks!
  8. Hi all, I work in a small practice of about 10 employees, and we're all hybrid-working (work from home 3 or 4 days a week). When we do go to the office it's a shared co-working space that we rent out a corner of, with 5 of our own computers, which we hot-desk. If we all come in to the office at once it's just for meetings as we can't all physically work there at once. We're about to hire more people and have already run into the license activation issue by activating on too many machines, and can only imagine this getting worse soon with more people. So my questions are: 1. Is there such a thing as the Site Protection Server offered with Cloud Services? As opposed to having to run our own server with VPN, etc? E.g Rhino's Cloud Zoo or like how (IIRC) ArchiCAD dishes out licenses from the cloud. Might this be on the roadmap? 2. If licenses are bound to the computer, does that mean that all the user profiles on one physical machine could use the same license? Currently we assign a license to each employee, but what we could do instead is assign a license to each computer, which could solve the problem. 3. Has anyone had any luck synchronising their VW Workspaces between office & home computers? I'm hoping this should be as simple as syncing the Workspaces directories for each user with their home computer? Bit of a pain across multiple machines in the office, but it'd only be a one-time set up. Thanks!
  9. Hi all, I'm just trying to get some text to flow along a curve with the Text Along Path command. I keep getting an error saying "only one path object and one text object are allowed in text along path" when I'm only selecting one item of text and one polyline. See below: Am I missing something? Maybe this only works with certain kinds of path?? I've tried it with a single line and a different text object and it did the same thing. Thanks!
  10. Hi all, just wondering if there's a way to hide or turn off the internal pen of wall components when using data visualisation? Probably easiest to explain in pictures: I have a wall with components that have pen attributes: With data visualisation I can turn the wall grey easy enough, for simplified and larger scale drawings: But the pen/lines between wall components is still visible. If I turn pen off with a data visualisation, the wall is grey with no pen at all - not even on the outer faces - which doesn't look good. What I would like to achieve is something like this (crudely photoshopped) with the outer lines of the wall visible, but the internal components hidden: Is this possible with VW? Thanks!
  11. Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows how I can align the hatches of horizontal timber cladding, as shown below? I'm doing the model in 3D. If they were just 2D fills then local mapping would work, but since these are hatches applied to components of a wall I don't believe local mapping is an option. Thanks!
  12. Hi Pat, thanks for replying. I've done as you suggested and relocated the drawing to the VW internal origin, then set the user origin to match the georeference. But the issue is persisting. ^ this is how an elevation should look ^ but when you zoom in there's some kind of hatch applied over the wall texture and parts of the window ^ I thought the issue might be to do with textures, but removing the wall component textures and using only hatches still results in weird stuff... the hatch over the top seems to be gone, but now it's distorting the hatches and stuff. Uploaded the VW file again: 2022-08-15.vwx I'm trying to get the practice I work for to move from 2D to 3D, and the time it's taking to sort out this stuff isn't helping my argument that 3d is better 😬
  13. Hi all, I have a strange issue in a file where in perspective view my walls, doors & windows all look fine. But in isometric view everything seems to have a hatch applied. Anyone know why this might be? ^ Hatch over everything in iso view ^ same view in perspective, no hatching I've attached my VW file as well. Thanks for the help! 2022-08-12.vwx
