  1. Downlodable version of core VW pack with possibility to purchase it via internet from any place of this planet would be step forward. National resellers could offer localisation packages + plugins taylored to measure local needs and regulations .. This parcellation of market, distribution of "boxed software" via Fedex .. looks like an anachronism at these times. Sorry for this heresy against good old way of doing things.
  2. Yeah ... sometimes lost in translation ... Anyway I appreciate your assistance....
  3. Try to set none in renderworks backgorund field in your current layer settings. ... renderworks background field
  4. ... one of spots dedicated to SpaceClaim on Deelip Menezes blog ... see last comment in discussion
  5. You need to install approprite version of Quicktime. Keybord / shortcuts customization is availible in workspace editor - here (No sure if it has the same location in older versions of VW.)
  6. No problem with importing SU files into VW on Vista 64bit. clothesline
  7. Ok, there is a lot of things to do.. but it was description of principle Anyway, there is still one improvement possible: Import your SU model into VW file and name it for example SU_source. This Su_source file attach to another VW file (called for example - project_annotations) as external reference. You can create now your sections and elevations in this file. Whenever you change your SU model, you can simply rewrite SU_source file with new one and all sections in project_annotations file will update ... This is workaround if you dont want to rebuild your model in VW.
  8. Spaceclaim was built from the ground up, that is true, but the price is suprisingly very - very reasonable ... http://www.novedge.com/brands/89 And the 3D hatches .. well, there is nothing new under sun Intellicad hatches rotated in 3D ... And Intellicad clones are actually comparable with AutoCad 13/14 ... year 1997
  9. Well ... If you have everything accurately organized - clustered into components and groups, you can simply import your model, attach records to your windows/doors etc components (in VW symbols, create from model horizontal and vertical section viewports add some annotations and hatches in viewport editing mode and you have complete project ..
  10. Yes ... Spaceclaim = Sketchup on steroids
  11. A) Edit your model in SU omiting round corners (in fact polygonal). Import your model directly into VW using plain geometry. Use command Cut 2D Section to create planar slices from your model placed on separate layers (horizontal or vertical sections...) And finally fillet your corners in sections with 2D fillet tool. B) First two steps are the same. Then convert your model into solids.... see last post Use 3D fillet edge tool on your solid model and than you can create slices from your model again. 1 - SU model 2 - imported model 3 - model converted into solids with filleted corners 4 - 2D section command 5 - and finally slice from your model
  12. Hi, I was curios and tried (about half year ago) to run VW 2008 under Mandriva 2009-Spring using most recent Wine package at that time downloaded from the repository. As I remember, resolution of icons was degraded - pixelated - badly readable. I was able to open and save files, draw, render models, but everything was extreamly slow, VW often crashed down or froze ... I ran it on MicroStar GX700PX notebook (core 2 duo-2GHz/2GB RAM / nVidia GeForce 8600M GT)..
  13. Sometimes it works contrariwise check the Czech ... http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=26207&Number=125908#Post125908
  14. Yes Sketchup can do it .. more precisly LEDAS driving dimension plugin .. Ledas driving dimensions
  15. VW with parasolid core have the potential to handle this challenge. Owner of parasolid, Siemens, has Spaceclaim equivalent - Synchronous technology...
  16. Wall caps of the "helper" wall were turned on. Turn off thickness of the wall outline imply, that you will draw it manually ... not good. Better is replace missing pieces with line segments on the same class - workaround workaround. I would prefere clean solution described above, but for now I can live with these small disturbances.
  17. For example here - watch the video from min 16:45 ... But I guess - whole concept of Spaceclaim is remarkable
  18. It's always possible! But it sometimes requires an extra wall. You are right ... but it always requires extra wall and is a little bit tricky ... wall connection ...
  19. And Btw joining two different wall types with different thicknesses and different numbers of components as shown in the video ... it is in VW impossible without covering the wall joint with a polygon mask ..
  20. This is only manual cleanup for situations when the automated process doesnt work accurately. The ability to edit each component of the wall using grips/vertices would be very handy ( all I wanted to say) Just for inspiration.
  21. Well I found the solution. 1) Create your complex geometry in SU within few minutes.. sketchup model 2) Import it into VW as a plain geometry = VW 3D polygons 3) Select whole object (or all objects) and convert it into a mesh (Ctrl+Alt+R) 4) Keep it selected and convert the mesh into NURBS (Ctrl+Alt+N) ... you will get group of NURBS surfaces .. 5) Ungroup (Ctrl+U) 6) Keep it selected and convert it into solid using stitch and trim surfaces (Ctrl+Alt+H) 7) Now you have bunch of solids you can work with (boolean operations, sections, protrude etc) sketchup model converted into VW solids It looks like complicated process, but in fact it is pretty fast and probably easy scriptable to automate this string of conversions Enjoy
  22. Aha .. figured it out I will attach special record to the listed items.
