  1. Thanks Pat. That did it. It's astonishing the amount I don't know about this program or are unable to find out about in the manuals!
  2. Any idea on how to apply a texture to the top horizontal surface of a curved half wall?
  3. I'm drawing walls in a particular layer but the lines I'm referencing for the walls reside in a different layer. How do I get the smartcursor to snap to objects in an inactive layer? I have already tried the "Show/Snap Others" layer option with no luck. Thanks
  4. Sure enough...... that did it. Wasn't even thinking about compatability (obviously). Thanks.
  5. I am having no luck with importing a fairly simple sketchup model into VWX. I have even tried eliminating curved surfaces before import and still I get nothing on the screen. No spinning pinwheel - nothing. It's like it doesn't even try to bring the .skp in. I've also tried to export from Sketchup as a DWG file, but upon import into Vectorworks, it develops all kinds of crossing lines of which I'm not sure what to do about. This was also done without any curved surfaces present. Board will not allow me to upload the sketchup file but I will include the DWG. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Sketchup Pro 7.1
  6. Thought I would include some pictures of the finished model I've done in Sketchup.
  7. Thank you Bohdan. That will be very helpful in the future.
  8. Thank you for your help Ray. This will help immensely. I have no previous CAD experience but can draw pretty much anything in Sketchup. I've designed the house we are going to build (straw bale) in Sketchup and decided I want to try and do the construction drawings myself along with the 3d model in Vectorworks, so I will have alot more questions I'm sure.
  9. Thank you so much for your help. The drawing was imported as a .dwg file that was exported from Sketchup Pro. I will go in audit everything. One more question for you..... when I extrude these walls into 3D, the outer part of the wall will have an angle of about 92.1 degrees going from 24" at the bottom to 18" at the top. The inner part will be completely vertical. Any idea on how I can accomplish this. Thanks again, Frank
  10. Total newbie here so forgive my ignorance. I am battling with applying a hatch pattern to some unconventional wall shapes in the enclosed file. I have tried both associative and non-associative methods with no luck. They either show up on only a portion of the selection or not at all. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, F.
