  1. @line-weight Scheduled means that these items are not just in development but officially on a planned schedule for release whether it be an upcoming service pack, or a future major release. As with many things software related, we’ve refrained from sharing exact scheduled dates, as some items can become delayed due to issues that may arise from external dependencies or in quality testing.
  2. This is a great idea - I can see the benefits right away. Submitting to our Cloud Services team - VE-101368
  3. New Roadmap site live site HERE Development Strategies For Everyone We believe your focus should be on your designs, not your design software. Our long-term commitment is to enhance and simplify the user interface and experience in Vectorworks products. The main areas of development in our core Vectorworks technologies and interfaces are in the themes of Quality and Performance, UI/UX, and Graphics Modernization. These areas will continue to drive us towards making your experiences in Vectorworks products faster and more intuitive, while also providing the stability and accuracy you require. For Collaborators One of the great strengths about Vectorworks is the variety of supported file formats. We take pride in being a design hub, and we have no plans on stopping our investments in this area. Our goal is to continue to invest in optimizing the most used file formats, supporting value-added partner products, and ensuring that project teams and BIM collaboration remains unrivaled. For Architects and Interiors We made several great advancements in recent releases, and we have a clear focus on continued support for a growing demand on 3D and BIM workflows. We are also undertaking the re-engineering and modernization of core architectural objects to support the creation of accurate BIM models and the documentation of modern construction methods and materials. For Landscape Architects, Designers, and Planners With purpose-built tools for landscape design, Vectorworks Landmark is providing ways to simplify the complex learning curve of adopting BIM in the landscape industry, and is quickly becoming the BIM platform of choice for landscape architecture. As we move forward, we are investing in developments that focus on making it simpler to produce landscape BIM models, support the demand to create sustainable sites, and creating tight integrations between landscape BIM and GIS workflows. For Entertainment Design and Production Professionals Our commitment to users in the entertainment industry is to invest first and foremost in re-engineering for better file performance. We will make tools more responsive. We will consolidate features where multiple options cause confusion. We will create consistency in behaviors between the various tools and commands in our entertainment products, and we will add functionality that simplifies your workflows. You will see evidence of this investment in the many great performance enhancements and bug fixes in version 2021. And you will continue to see this in releases moving forward. We hope this has given you some insight into what lies ahead for Vectorworks development. This is of course a snapshot at this moment in time and not an exhaustive list of all features in development or research. As with any roadmap, things can and do change as time passes. We look forward to continuing to share our plans with you, and to hearing your feedback with regularity. Vectorworks design software wouldn’t be what it is today without valuable feedback from our users.

  21. Sharing couple updates about Big Sur (release tomorrow) and the new Mac ARM-M1 chips as promised: We will keep updating these articles as we get more information and testing in production hardware.
  22. 06/29/2020: we received the first Developer Testing Kit (DTK) with Apple's A12Z Bionic System on a Chip - Vectorworks 2020 SP5 and Vectorworks 2021 SP1 run without any issues to report. Vision 2020 and 2021 versions were tested and would not run in Rosetta 2 emulation. Vision requires a substantial GPU to perform correctly, which was not part of the A12Z chip. 11/10/2020: Currently, we are expecting a new Mac Book Air and MacBook Pro 13" - to start testing immediately. We are confident that Vectorworks 2020 and 2021 will run on these new M1 chips with the latest service packs installed. However, we are waiting for production hardware using the M1 chips to gauge their real-world performance using Vectorworks in Rosetta 2 emulation.. Nevertheless, we are very excited about what the new M1 will do! Vision 2020 and 2021, we are waiting for production hardware using the M1 chip to determine if Vision will run in Rosetta 2 emulation with the integrated graphics on the M1 chip. 11/11/2020: As many of you know, yesterday Apple announced the first chip designed specifically for the Mac - ARM-M1. And we are pretty sure all our Mac users, of course, have many questions. The following article has been created to keep you up to date with the latest news and facts about how Vectorworks performs with the Macs that use these new M1 processors. Note: Please be advised, that if you plan to use any of the new Macs, we as of this date do not have official testing results to share with you. We recommend you follow this thread and check back for our official updates on testing results. 11/30/2020: Reported issues after initial tests with Mac Book Air and MacBook Pro: 1) The Finder Icon View of a Vectorworks file does not show a preview 2) Updating a sheet Layer Viewport with OpenGL and Ambient Occlusion will crash 12/8/2020 : Our QA team has completed the acceptance test for Vectorworks 2020 SP5 and 2021 SP2, and these are the reported issues: 1) The Finder Icon View of a Vectorworks file does not show a preview - We are working closely with Apple to get this issue resolved as soon as possible. FIXED with the latest macOS Big Sur update. 2) Updating a sheet Layer Viewport with OpenGL and Ambient Occlusion will crash - Our R&D team is debugging the issue with Apple, and we hope to get a fix from Apple soon. FIXED with the latest macOS Big Sur update. Our QA team is continuing to test Vectorworks and Vision, and we will keep updating this information on a regular basis. We are currently supporting the M1's with Vectorworks under Rosetta 2 emulation for Entry level profiles based on our system requirements.
  23. @neal-2002 we will be posting an update about the new M1 and Big Sur soon. Stay tuned!
