  1. You just need to set the layer colors to black and white, and use the option of using layer colors. It's actually the same as putting your classe to blak and white, but much much faster.
  2. If you download the sdk from the VW website, you'll get examples with it. The thing is that you'll need the whole version of msdn wich includes c++ and you'll also need to know how to program in it.
  3. There is a lot of stuff that is not in the fundamentals and that are very needed for a fast and good workflow. I thought that even export to pdf is not in the fundamentals, but I could be wrong. Also the navigation pallette is missing from fundamentels, etc. All the good things are not in it. I once compared them when I was to by VW, and the conclusion I had to made is that fundamentels is missing to much. I make my own pio's, so it's not for them I bought architect. It's for all those other little things.
  4. Before reading the post, read this: http://www.nemetschek.net/news/pressreleases/2007/102407.php Here in belgium we'll have to wait for another 2 weeks for the pro version, while the other versions like architect will only be done in december this year, if all goes ok. I hope they will get it done as soon as possible. In the maintime, can we download a demo version of the original? Because I just can't wait.
  5. can you attach the file to a post or mail? I do not have problems on showing the components, even when there are 5 or more. do they not show in the resource pallette, or in the drawing?
  6. which version of VW are you using? for an opening: make a symbol of 4 loci that represent the cut that has to be made in the wall and insert that symbol.
  7. You can't make a script that call's a script after executing, but you can make a script that call's itself again after executing. I will explain this further. I had made some plug-in point objects. Sometimes you want the parameters to update before going further into the script. So you'll need to terminate the script and because of the parameter change, the script runs again. With the correct lines of code, you can let the script run the times you want. I do not know anymore how I did it exactly, but I will look at it. It worked on plug-in objects, but I do not know if this will work on a menu or tool object. I will check this out. But what if: you make a script for updating the stamps. you make a script for executing those updating scripts. then the updating scripts will terminate and update the stamps, while the main script still runs. maybe it will work?
  8. I also use vista, and I have no problems yet. It's running very smooth. The only thing is a big black border around floating paleetes
  9. Petri, you can see it another way: 2D is not always 2D. It can be 3D that looks 2D when you look at it from in front of it. So Those other programs, just draw thing in '2D' on a 3D plane. It will be very handy to have this. Why? When you rotate your drawing in 3D to work on it, All 2D objects show in front of the 3D objects and make it hard to work on those 3D objects.
  10. Before VW12, we had a line between levels when we rendered a building. VW12 resolves this problem. But it does not for all render methods! My wish is to make this work with all render methods. I like to use artistic renderings etc. in the future. But unless that ugly line will not display, I can't use them. Also, sometimes I have walls next to eachother, and then there is also a line. It may be hard to program, but could we have a wall object where we can say wich sides should not display and wich do? Kinda like the polygon tool?
  11. The way these commands work makes the result not usefull. These commands draws polygons for every object that is selected, even if they will not be seen. Thereby, there are too many polygons in the group. It's very hard to handle if you want to edit the result. Also objects which should be 1 polygon is divided into smaller polygons wich is very annoying to edit. So my wish is to rework these commands so that only the polygons that will be seen are drawn and are drawn as 1 polygon. Right now I need to convert to lines and then fill up the lines with polygons, but the bucket mode of the polyline tool is way too slow. It can take op to 1 minute to generate a polygon.
  12. I mostly use the measurement tool for that. I understand what you want, but there are always different ways to get some things, And the program is designed to rerender with every change. I think that is is so fundamental to the program that this can't be changed. (I'm not sure about this). ps: hidden line renders very slow here.
  13. How can you work accuratly when you do not see a correct drawing? I understand that if you did something and you know what the change is, there is no need for rerendering for you. But this will cause confusion and many errors for other users. The point of rerendering is that VW will show the latest model created from the input of the user. That way the user can built further on that. The thing i learned from working with rendered views: If you are modelling, creating, drawing. Then you'd better use wireframe, openGL or polygons. They are the fastest to work with. If you then want to see how it will render, but not actually make the finishing render, you can use RenderWorks Fast. And Finally when you want to render, you can choose whatever you want. But you can't ask something to delete if the program needs it to interact correctly with the user. PS: If you bite your apple and spit it out again, You can still see you've bitten it. Even when you put it at the exact place. Action-Reaction.
  14. Just turn Stack Layers on, then all the views will align.
  15. Katie, I know that, And I will use it that way. I do not care if I have a lot of classes. When you give them a good name, they are really manageble. And believe me, I use a looooot of them. Every object must have a class! (for me) I only wanted to explain for myself and for others what Christiaan wanted to say because it is very confusing.
  16. I always use prefixes like: MS: MuurStijl (WallStyle) LA: LijnArchering (Hatch) ZV: ZichtVenster (ViewPort) TZ: TekenZone (Saved View) ... except for symbols, layers and classes. Why? Because to have unique names and to know what they are.
  17. I think I now understand what is happening. In VW12, when we set the class of the wall, All pen colours will be the one of that class. Whe then can set all pen wieghts of the components manualy. In VW2008, The pen colours of the components will not adapt to the pen colour of the class of the overal wall. They will have their own class to adapt to. Thus, Christiaan is correct if he says that there is functionallity lost. Why? If you want the colour of the pen of the components to be of the class of the overal wall, you'll need to set the components class to the overal wall class. Because of this, The linewieght will be the same too.
  18. Well, as far as I see, there is no loss in functionalety. The problem is that Christian want the following: Use the pen wieght and fill he chooses for his wall, but let the color be the color from the class. At the moment I see from the dialogs, you can only let them all be from the class, or choose them yourself. So basicly, Christiaan wants more flexibility then there is now. I must say this would be a great improvement. But there is no functionallity lost like Katie explains.
  19. I have this problem in VW 12.5.1. I render a lot in hidden lines and in some cases, there are lines that are not there, but should be there, so I draw them myself. Not supposed to be, I know, But I can't explain this problem.
  20. If you double click on an extrude, you are able to change the base object of the extrude. In the oip, you can set how much the extrude should extrude. Every 3D object has a history, and if you use this wisely, you can easely adapt these objects by going in their history.
  21. I was looking through the object selectors and I do not know what the following selectors are: * Layer Repaginate (under layer) * Georeference Point (misc.) * Georeference Offset (misc.) Can someone explain them to me?
  22. How can you get the page settings of a sheet layer? What I want to find out is what's the page size and how many pages are chosen (like 1row, 2colums of A2 size paper wich is xcm wide and ycm height and the origin)
