  1. I jumped V10 so can't say, but in V11 though the cursor starts at the top which is not generally the X space, a tab or few will get you there. [ 06-08-2005, 10:20 AM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  2. There are a couple offset items. There is an offset in the OIP which sets the window to one side of the wall CL or the other. And there is the ability to offset along the length of the wall. You can toggle to this option using the "U" key -though you should have seen an offset window appear. A third possibility is if you are using a symbol with an insertion point set outside the window. You can insert from either side, the center of object, or the prespecified insertion point. The last is handy if for example you are inserting doors that are mostly a given distance off a corner. Its possible you have inadvertently toggled to this mode via the "O" key.
  3. Ron, pending an official response you might just check that the operation is not outside the parameter of the specification. IE the line when extended past the .350R arc is not greater than a perpendicular distance of .450 off the center.
  4. Good note. Only thing I would add is if on W2000 rather than right-click on an icon you would select it and look under the registry menu for export.

    Site Modeling

The road tool falls in that category of automated things that I often avoid. Since I generally need a 2D adjusted survey with proposed contours I usually just do this first, including swales, berms etc if scale is appropriate, and then make a DTM of that rather than do too much adjusting on the 3D site. Depending on what you're end goal is that may take more time than you want. [ 06-08-2005, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  6. Plus you can use "I" with the 2D selection tool to toggle the wall insertion mode to lock symbols in or out of walls. [ 06-07-2005, 04:38 PM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  7. If I didn't think it was impossible I would guess that you were inserting the window into a wall on a different layer at a different scale. Maybe someone else has ideas.
  8. If you're spending money you might look at Poser Artist. I think you can get it from Amazon for under $100. Might even be on eBay.
  9. Was this possible in the past? I can't recall. There is a minor shortcut to your long way though. Once you go around with your single line poly and offset it, simply offset it again and subtract surface. Decompose if you like.
  10. Thank Bruce. It sure helps to know the logic behind it. I should be able to change the offset and then add another layer to replace it if need be.
  11. My last thought is to go through this little exercise: Drag a copy of the wall perpendicular off the original. Shorten the original wall from whichever end is closest, back past the troubling window, losing any windows between it and the end. Re-extend and connect the wall. Drag windows directly from the copy you first made back into this wall. Use a copy of a working window in place of the one that wasn't just as a final precaution.
  12. The artistic render > color wash might give you what you're looking for. [ 06-02-2005, 06:22 PM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  13. I can't say this it true 100% of the time, but it seems that if you start with a polyline and use it as a path, it will be converted to a nurb and you can edit the path only if you stay within the original plane. Same if you convert it to a nurb yourself before doing the extrude. If you start off drawing a nurb for a path you are able to twist it almost any way you want.
  14. The extrude along path is too touchy. You might try copying your path and pasting it anew. Adjust it to exactly how you want it and then if it won't take as a new extrusion path trace it with a brand new nurbs curve. Before tracing double-click the Snap to Objects constraint and check the box in there. Turn off all other snaps. The HVAC tool may only be in the industry series. It supplies you with a series of splitters dampers elbows etc.
  15. The drawing label PIO has its length adjusted on the OIP. Likewise its text size. When copied and pasted into layers of different scales the output size remains constant -no matter whether scale text is selected in the layer scale or not. Same if changing the scale of the current layer. The benchmark PIO has its length adjusted by dragging. The text is controlled through the text menu. If the layer scale is changed with the scale text box checked the text changes size but the length remains at the previous scale. If the layer scale is changed with the scale text unchecked the text remains a constant size but the length changes relative to the scale. There is no method where they both remain at the same output size together. Now, when copied and pasted to a different layer of differing scale it doesn't matter whether the scale text is checked or not, the benchmark PIO will act as if the scale text box is checked. Same with the callout PIO. Same with the reference marker PIO. There is some consistency that could be requested on a number of levels. 1) Pasting or moving between layers or drawings of different scale should treat PIOs the same as changing the scale of the layer they are on given a consistency in other factors. 2) Text size should be either controlled on the OIP or not. 3) PIO size should be either controlled on the OIP or not. 4) When changing scale either in the same layer or when moving a PIO from a layer of one scale to one of another, there should at least be an option to have the PIO remain at the same output scale. Right now the only PIO of those mentioned above that does this is the drawing label.

  17. When you create the DTM there is a place where you can specify which existing or new layer it goes on. That it is not rendering is quite likely because it is set to 3D polygons. Try going back to Site Model . . . Ensure that Update DTM Models is selected. Click the Properties button. Change 3D Display Settings to your choice of renderable surfaces.
  18. The HVAC tool has its uses. If you do need contortions that are outside of its parameters you can ungroup an item and it will become a simple extrude, sweep or whatever, and can be rotated or adjusted as such. If you stick with the path you still might consider breaking it up into components to isolate where it is unhappy.
  19. Its very possible that one or more of your corners are too sharp for the radius of circle you are extruding.
  20. You will need to do the manipulation you speak of on the path. You may have to set a working plane or two where the path moves vertically. Use the 3D reshape tool to adjust the path. You can also make the duct out of HVAC components. Check the Show 3D detail on the OIP. I don't believe the HVAC tool will allow you to do slopes in the Z plane however, just straight verticals. 21. I don't know about the 750C but I recall with the 755CM you could go into the properties, options tab, and select manual color. This enabled you to click a color control button which brought up a window that had a number of options, one being match screen. There was also a user defined color correction which used an image to help set colors.
  22. If you get actual help from Symantec you might be the first. If you go to your NIS, click firewall, click configure, then the programs tab, scroll down to VW. Does it say block all? Either that or permit all should do it. Anything but automatic. If that's not it its beyond me.
  23. Rather than moving a sun, create different suns at different locations and place them in separate classes is one solution.
  24. Last one. How about if you use the remove wall breaks tool at that location and reinsert the window?
