  1. He may mean 2019 sp1. 2019 sp2 has not been released yet.
  2. No date so far, however since the new Mac Mini has integrated graphics and no dedicated VRAM, it sadly still falls below the minimum system requirements. They gave it a great CPU and no decent GPU unfortunately.
  3. Correct, this is still occurring. It happens now to me mostly when I use light object overrides, but it can happen at any time. I suspect we only fixed half the causes at most in 2019.
  4. They ARE indeed ALL being recorded this year as an integrated part of the A/V system, but I am not sure where/how they will be hosted. If I had to guess it would be that they would at least at first go on the Service Select portal.
  5. Also! The Design Summit app is up on both the app stores: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobile.appDZV6GWZo6I https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vectorworks-design-summit/id1437834624?mt=8 It has the full schedule and you can reserve a place in the various sessions. Definitely worth doing ahead of time as some of the sessions with hands on training are filling up already. We also announce things through it as well, so it's worth leaving it installed and leaving it's notifications active until you head home.
  6. Got my itinerary! I get to teach 4 courses, and assist @Luis M Ruiz with his advanced modeling course as well. Hopefully this means I'll get to ATTEND some of the other presentations this time! Teaching is all well and good but I do love to absorb when I can.
  7. Yes. Metal is highly optimized for integrated graphics and runs very efficiently on them.
  8. If instructing my users in the creation of Hackintoshes wasn't in the realm of DMCA-danger for our company, something we absolutely wouldn't want to risk, I would have yearly tutorials on doing it. I personally can't recommend them enough, They work so well and show that the OS really does shine if you give it the right guts.
  9. An eGPU makes even more sense for the Mac Mini, since you only have to push things one way, from the Mac to the eGPU to the display. Most of the real trouble I had here was trying to convince an eGPU to output back to the Macbook's internal display that I was testing with.
  10. It isn't actually AutoCAD. It's a Nomad-like app that can annotate and draw simple text and shapes in DWGs but thats it. They worded that very poorly.
  11. 😭 😭 😭 😭 Regardless, this is still going to be a model users ask about, especially with that sub $1k starting price. Going to push grabbing a few for testing. ONE DAY most integrated graphics will be able to handle Vectorworks, but so far very, very few can.
  12. The more I look into these the more I want them, badly.
  13. Agreed, I want them to bring back Nivida graphics! The GTX 1050 and 1060 are nice and slim and being happily stuffed into laptops across the Windows range and are doing great. I have one of the older Mac Minis (It now happily serves as a media server in my basement) that had an Nvidia 9400M and even for being a weaker offering it still ran circles around the Intel integrated options.
  14. Is there a reason you are using 2018 SP1 and not the latest sp5? What version and SP of Vectorworks are you using?
  15. An event today at 10AM EST, expecting updates to the iPad Pro and Macbook lines, but I hold out hopes for a much more capable Mac Mini. The Mini was always my favorite personally, for a very long time it was the easiest (and cheapest) way to get into the Mac architecture, I hope they give it some horsepower and put it back in contention for heavy Vectorworks usage. https://www.apple.com/apple-events/ https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/30/18027372/october-apple-event-live-stream-time-date-watch-online-ipad-macbook
  16. From all I have heard, we expect that this will not happen until at least 2 years from today.
  17. Doesn't look like anything you've done wrong, I am not able to edit your account as I would expect either. It's requesting that you update your info but everything seems to be in order already. Contact tech@vectorworks.net (make sure to include the email you signed up with) and they can take a closer look.
  18. IF you are using the non-localized English version, the update shoudl work as expected. However I think the Aus/NZ localization hasn't gotten an SP5 yet, which would also return a serial number error. For anyone encountering this issue, contact tech@vectorworks.net directly, they will likely ask for your serial number as well as this from the affected machine:
  19. Woke up the hamsters inside the old forum server, here are the missing attached files: 879-PolycarbCorrugated.vwx
  20. If we made the decision right now, the playing field will have changed significantly by the time the changes go live. Since none of the work we are doing right now to move things over to the VGM directly affects which platform we choose to move to, the choice can be delayed as long as possible to pick the healthiest option. Sort of like waiting as long as possible before upgrading a computer, the longer you're able to hold off buying, the more bang for the buck you get with modern hardware. This is mainly because the VGM was designed to be flexible for exactly this sort of changes, we can hook it into any modern solution we choose. To clarify a bit: We don't for instance, need to migrate from the VGT TO Metal or TO Vulkan, we will simply keep working on the VGM and hook it into the replacement for OpenGL. The VGM was specifically designed to futureproof Vectorworks against exactly this kind of major platform change at the same time as it allows the use of more system hardware.
  21. An excerpt related to this topic from an interview with our CEO in Architosh, pointed out by one of our testers: -------------------------------- "The Deprecation of OpenGL by Apple: Metal vs Vulkan and the VGM With the recent news of the deprecation of OpenGL in future macOS versions, announced by Apple at WWDC 2018, I had to ask Dr. Biplab Sarkar what that might mean for its proprietary VGM technology. “Actually the VGM has been set up for this possible future,” Sarkar reassures. “The calls in the VGM are established in such a way that it will be very easy to go to Vulkan or [Apple’s] Metal for that matter.” He noted that currently, the company’s programmers are leaning more towards Vulkan, the open industry standard by The Khronos Group. The open standard would simplify cross-platform development, but there are emerging technologies that will enable bridging from OpenGL to Metal directly. “I would say we are at least a year away from making this decision,” adds Dr. Sarkar. He explains that they still have many parts of Vectorworks to rewrite using the VGM. “Our selection system is not using the VGM, nor our interactive graphics.” Once those items are moved over to the Vectorworks Graphics Module then and only then would the company be able to re-code parts of the VGM for either Vulkan or Metal APIs."
  22. First things to check would be that they don't have any unusual characters in their the path to their Application folder, or their user folders. If they have network user accounts, this can also sometimes cause a similar problem. I can take a look at the following from their machines and usually find out more:
  23. Does it not list a serial number there, or does it claim that your serial number is invalid? What happens if you enter your serial number in the updater manually?
