  1. LordSobe: Walls will appear "flat" if your wall height, "delta z" is zero.
  2. LordSobe: You can also move your Roof layer link within your Model layer. Once you unlock the layer link, you can move it up and down manually.
  3. Vectorworks 11 installs with the name "Vectorworks". Go to the finder and change the name from that to "Vectorworks 11" Go to the Dock and drag your current icon out of the Dock, (it will explode). Drag your newly named Vectorworks 11 into the Dock. It will now display in the dock as Vectorworks 11. The icon still looks like version 9 or 10 but at least you can tell the difference between the others with the new name.
  4. Layer links will not change dynamically. You have to delete the layer link and then add it again with the new elevation value. 1. Go to your model layer and select the Roof layer link. (The Object Info Palette will show you when you have the Roof layer link selected). 2. Unlock the layer link and delete it. 3.Add the Roof layer link back to your model. The new layer link will establish itself based on the current elevation data.
  5. Thanks Ion. I feel better knowing that I am not the only one. Now the question is whether there is a solution.
  6. A number of times I have seen things change in my drawings. A wall may get longer or an item may take on a different class. Each time I assumed that I did something to cause the change. Today I find that the sound preference came on all by itself. I did not check the box in preferences, yet without reason, I now have sound. When I open preferences, sure enough the check box for sound is checked, but I did not do it. Is there a check box to turn off these gremlins? VW11, OS10.2.8
  7. The gallery section of the NNA home page has some examples of mostly renderings. You might also try the training CD's.
  8. I could use some guidance on this. I have been trying to create a french door but cannot get it to render as it should.
  9. First of all I want to say that it is apparent that a lot of work went into the new "all-in-one" Door Tool. Likewise, the manual gives good information on how to use this new tool. (I don't want to sound unappreciative). How are we to now create French Doors. The old way was to use the French Door Tool where we could set the pattern of the muntins. It appears that the new way is to create the muntins by use of the number of Panels. Then I suppose we are to make those panels Glass. Is this correct?
  10. In reading a previous reply by Robert Anderson, he suggests using the new Door Tool and not using the "Legacy" plug-ins. But the question still remains. How do we create sliding doors with more than two panels with the current all-in-one Door Tool?
  11. Be sure that you have set: Organize>Class Options>Show/Snap/Modify Others. This allows you to "Show, Snap to, and Modify items that are in a class other than the active class.
  12. Is this a bug or am I missing something. When I select gray others, all mod layers come into view even though they are set to invisible. They show as gray, but the layers set to invisible should not show at all. The other layer options are operating as expected. OS10.2.8, VW11.0
  13. VW 11 is crashing more often than VW 9.5.3 did. (Yes I ran and continue to run Disk First Aid).
  14. Thank you Dave, good to know. There is a bug in this operation under VW11. I set the extrude to render transparent glass, but it would not render transparent. If I toggle the attribute palette from solid to pattern, (or vise versa), the texture then renders properly. VW & RW11, OS10.3.3
  15. Have you tried to export your text from Word in a text format or rich text format? You can then try a copy and paste with that instead of the native Word format.
  16. Most of us have come to learn that version "x.0" is a dangerous game with any software. The good news is that your software purchase comes with a money back guarantee. If the software is unsuitable for you, then get your money back and wait for the later releases, such as 11.5. NNA's policy is not new and is common practice. I would love it if Apple Computer would say that "on this day we are releasing our new product line". It won't happen because they would not have any sales until that date. Don't blame Katie. She is a real trooper. She gives of her time to this board freely. She is not obligated to do so.

G-Pang: Could you explain this further. I am not sure what you are trying to say.
  18. Is there a difference between the AEC>Floor command and the Extrude command? I took the same polyline and made an Extrude and a Floor. I gave both the same texture and same Map Type of Plane. They each render with a different texture. In this case the texture is glass. Each is a different color of glass. [ 06-03-2004, 07:54 PM: Message edited by: Kevin ]

I would be sure that the software is compatible. I have found HP software for the Mac to be buggy. I have the HP 455CA (with roll feed). There is no HP software for OSX for this plotter. It currently runs fine with Gimp Print, but runs slow. When I ran it under OS9 with the HP software, it was often a headache. HP seems to view the Mac as an afterthought.
  20. There is also the center mark tool which places cross hairs on the circle.
  21. You may be able to create your spirals with the "Sweep" command. Just draw your cross section, such as a circle and sweep it into a spiral. Don't know if this will speed things up.
  22. And for those of us on VW11, are we OK to update to OS10.3.4?
  23. Peter, that is my question. Are we to still use the French Door plug-in which is not in our default workspace, or are we now to use the installed Door plug-in for all doors?
  24. Charles: What do we now use for French Doors in VW11?
  25. I have searched the manual and cannot find anything that directly addresses this. I would love the hear from Katie to see what the "official NNA method" is.
