morning Have never used SketchUp for 3d modelling but have been watching a few tutorials on youtube and it does seem a fantastic piece of kit.....i guess if you know how to use it! I am interested to see how many of you guys integrate the modelling element of SU with VectorWorks and if any of the SU 3d modelling tools you would like to see on the 3d modelling pallette in VectorWorks....if any......many thanks

really need a white model render.....but in open gl which would be great.......guess as jim said build your model without colours and then apply the textures when your happy with the geometry at the end

In the end I didn’t take the offer to upgrade to v18 in fact although I have v17 I still use v16....find it very stable.....

Thanks....I was wondering if some kind of lofting would work ..even tried the wall tool and tried pulling it to create the offset....I’ll have a look at the spring....

I guess you could have made a solid tube and then did a subtract solid and when you had completed all the operations pasted in place the origonal hollow tube.....I like adding solids and then putting a curve on the joint for really close up work....I thinks it’s a fillet in the 3D toolbox......

hi download sp4 fine but keep getting this message Vectorworks 2017 SP4 quit unexpectedly......tried a new download and a restart......just can't get the program installed and ideas. thanks

Well maybe I should work on a project with 4 views.....give it a try.....and I am sure you guys are right....I wonder if i should have bought 3 more drawing boards back in the day....I would have been streets ahead of the opposition......but of course I would have had to use 4 pencils instead of just one.....lol

It’s really interesting to hear these comments......although I have the opportunity in upgrading now I have been offered it at the original price.....I still find it easier to gave one screen and just change the views to suit.....find the multi views to small....sub-d.....need to spend some time with this.....wish it was like form z. Though.....never want to be negative as a lot of talented people have worked there butts of to bring 2018 to the table......and I am sure to many negtives....are no good to anyone
