Harold
Is there a way to apply a hatch in a room without having to draw a square to define the boundaries of the hatching? Quote Link to comment
Travis
You can only apply a fill (hatch, solid or pattern) to a shape. But you can turn the shape's line to none or 0. I find myself doing this quite often. Good luck, Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted April 12, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 12, 2005 I'm going to presume that the room you describe is defined by wall objects or lines. If you have VectorWorks Architect, you can simply use "Create Spaces from Walls" command to create Space objects (which can be filled like polys, including hatches) for all your rooms. If not, then you can automatically create a poly that will fill the room by selecting all the walls or lines that bould the room and using the "Combine into surface" command that will "fill" the room with a poly that can then be filled with hatch or other fill. islandmon
Getting a complex Hatch to match up & square with the poly requires patience and skill. Sometimes it's much easy to use an ImageProp and then Preview as you tweak the coordinates. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted April 12, 2005 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 12, 2005 It occurs to me that in VectorWorks Architect, you can use the "ceiling grid" object which has a control point to set the intersection. Quote Link to comment
Harold
Thanks. What I found out is that you can draw a polyline and then double click the desired hatching and the area defined by the polilyne will change with the selected pattern. After that, sent the area to the back so I could see the plumbing fixtures on top of the floor. Works great! Quote Link to comment
