Fillet & Trim Failure

Here's an example to demonstrate my problem: Open a new drawing, set the scale to 1" = 1", and draw a 4" x 1" rectangle. Select the Fillet tool, set the fillet radius to 1/2", click on the "fillet and trim mode" setting, and try either clicking an edge of the rectangle which should fillet all corners, or drag across the corners to fillet them one at a time. Most often I can only fillet 2 corners, rarely 3 corners, and almost never will it do 4 corners. If I add .001" to the height of the rectangle, it will fillet all 4 corners. Does anyone else consider this an issue?

What version of VW are you using? In the old days, with 32 bit precision, it could be a problem to set a fillet to exactly 1/2 the length of a side. Im my current system, double clicking on the 1" x 4" rectangle successfully fillets all corners.

VW 10.5.1 and Mac OS X 10.3.2. I'm been told to test with a higher 2D resolution. I' will report back when I have done that.

I tested the higher 2D resolution and the results were inconclusive. Sometimes the fillet command rounds all 4 corners, sometimes not.

I have had the same issue with MiniCad, Vector works and other Cad software. The work around I have found to get the rounding to work to the max is as follows:

1. make the 4" x 1" rectangle.

2. convert it to a polygon (tools pull down menu)

3. use the 2d reshape tool to change the vertex to a circular fillet.
