Lost Feature - Ungroup (Explode) Hidden Line Viewports

Sometimes the fastest way to create a 2D drawing from a 3D object is to do a hidden line rendering and then explode.  This used to give you the linework - but in 2017 - we have lost that ability.   I want it back.

Not sure why Ungroup doesn't do that anymore, but in the meantime you should be able to use Modify > Convert Copy to Lines.

Convert to Polygons I think was what I used to use but it's been acting a little odd, I'll track it down when I have a sec and see if it regressed too.

No need to ungroup.

Hi, not sure why you need to convert to polys anymore with the 2016 and 2017 rendering engine. The images you see here are all generated by the 3d model and later i may bump up a few lines in the annotations layer. Any changes to the model are reflected immedially on the elevations.

I use it more for objects when creating hybrid symbols.  So if I download a DFX 3D faucet and I want to generate a better top plan view - I like to do a hidden line render of the object from top to get the start of the linework.  I then convert to lines / clean up / and use as the Top/Plan projection.

Tom, Try Convert to Group, then Ungroup. I believe that is the previous VW behavior as well.

Now that I am thinking about it - it may be that I was using convert to lines before - and just got confused.  Convert to lines gets me exactly what I need!
