Gradient to hold settings

I have a rectangle with the fill set as a gradient. Have gone into the gradient settings for that rectangle and altered the rotation and length. Once I have got the appearance to how I want it I move copies of it so I can rotate and place around plan. The issue I'm having is as soon as I drag the rectangle away the setting all revert to the unaltered settings. I'm sure there's a setting to lock these but unsure which one.

I'm not seeing that.

Just made rectangle with a gradient and used the attribute mapping tool to change the gradient direction and length. Then made copies by both duplicating and option dragging. Gradient was identical.

Then I tried rotating the duplicates. The gradient rotated with the rectangle.

Can you post a file with the problem?

I'm not seeing that on my machine either, but as a workaround you can always use the Eyedropper tool to pick up the attributes from the first rectangle and quickly apply it to the duplicates.
