AlanW
Hi, To create new classes I can right click on top of Class OIP and I can import Classes from my template file. Where is the location of the sample files already listed as I am thinking I can place my drawing there so it directs me to that file without navigating to it each time. Or is there a better way to import Classes from my template file without starting off a new drawing will all included. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Art V
On windows the location is at: C:\Program Files\Vectorworks 2016\Libraries\Defaults\Standards For Mac it is most likely similar, i.e. in the program folder of Vectorworks and then the subfolders as listed above. Putting your file in there as either a template or a vectorworks drawing should make it available as a standard from which you can import classes etc. as with the AIA and other standards files. AlanW
Great, Thanks for this, I will put it in my Workgroup folder so it will stay there when updates occur. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I will put it in my Workgroup folder so it will stay there when updates occur. Exactly. To show automatically they have to be in the workgroup folder. Generally there are several ways to do this. I made some Template Files and "save as Template" these with the .sta ending in my Workgroup Folder. I think VW proposes the correct folder automatically. These Templates will now show in your option list when you create a new file. These files can contain everything. All my units and file settings, a basic set of often used Symbols, Wall/Slab Styles, Cameras, Lights, Classes, Layers and Stories, even prepared Viewports, Sections and saved views. Like a complete typical Project, just without the geometry. I included especially those things that you can't or can not easy import from other Files, like Story and Level Settings, Viewports, Saved Views ! Also I have a Project Folder Template that I duplicate each time I start a new Project. You can put in there Template Files, with normal .vwx ending, too. And simple open these to to start your new project or to find these again to import some things. And you can save different separated Setting Files to a place you will find easy, which doesn't need to be the Workspace with its complex Sub Folder Structure. It can be anywhere. So things like : VW_Classes_residential.vwx VW_Layers_commercial.vwx VW_WallStyles_Concrete.vwx So it is easy organize ressources and find templates to import special parts only, Quote Link to comment
