Section Viewport Callouts on Floor Plan on Sheet Layer?

Recommended Posts

I have been going through everything that I can think of and I can't get the section viewport callouts that appear on the design layer to appear on the sheet layer in the floor plan viewport.

How can I accomplish it because it seems somewhat redundant that I draw in the section viewport callout and then have to go back and put in another callout for the elevation just to get it appear.

I am sure its something stupid that I am doing but I just can't figure it out.

Thanks

So I have a sheet layer called "installation" that will have my elevations on it. I want to place a viewport of the floor plan on the page so that you can see the section view callouts on it. Currently I can't get it to work no matter what I try so my only work around is what I listed above

I think you can do what you want.

Select an Elevation/Section viewport. Scroll to the bottom of the Shape pane of the Object Info Palette (OIP). Click the Section Line Instances button. The Section Line Instances Dialog box will open.

From here you can choose the Design Layers and Viewports you want the Section Line for this viewport to show in. In your case, click the Viewports button and make sure there is a check in front of your floor plan viewport.

one of the things that can cause confusion is that the section line can be shown on the design layer, but they dont show up on the sheet layer viewport of that design layer. They way the section line instances are designed, you have to tell Vectorworks what viewports you want the section line indicators to show up in. ignore the settings for the design layers, these do not get the indicators to appear in viewports.
