bc
When rendering in Open Gl with show edges on, why do some of them not show? These are all simple extrudes. Is this a known issue? Happens with shadows off as well. Seems this was discussed relative to older versions? See attached image. Thanks Edited April 15, 2015 by bc Quote Link to comment
bc
Did a google search and found this: https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=190714 Jim, I seem to still be having this same problem.... Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
What's your crease angle set to in the OpenGL Options? (OpenGL definitely still has some bugs but I mostly see them in Sheet Layer viewports.) KM Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Hi, Kevin has got it right adjust the crease angles in open GL. See images attached. Edited April 16, 2015 by Alan Woodwell Quote Link to comment
bc
Thanks guys that did it somewhat. I had to go all the way to 99 with the crease angle to get it to work. The lines DO show but some vertical lines are not the same weight as some other seemingly similar vertical lines. Alan's example demonstrates line weight equality so now I am wondering if there's some other setting I need to monkey with? See attached. Maybe this is a wish list subject. Actually, what is the point to having the crease angle? If the dialog box says draw edges, shouldn't it just draw edges without creasing any angles? What graphic need is fulfilled when the crease angle is set to 0 and only some of the lines are drawn? I am curious how people are using this crease angle. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 16, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 16, 2015 They're still tweaking this and I have seen tests showing improvements already. Originally it was assumed that OpenGL was only used for quick model checking, but after the influx of interest on the edges, opacity and thickness options it's now being given more attention and being made more robust and controllable. AlanW
Hi, I have found it useful when rendering a site model and getting rid of those annoying triangle that appear when rendering in open GL. Quote Link to comment
bc
Well and good. How is this different from deselecting Draw Edges? Is it that you still want a drawn DTM outline? Or something that I am missing..... Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Dam, thought I had solved my problem, but the problem I had was with hidden line rendering and the triangles. Oh well back to the drawing board. Your not missing anything but I seem to have lost a few neurons in my old age. Quote Link to comment
bc
That's OK Alan. I fully understand. I have lost so many neurons that there have been many times I have literally wanted to return to the drawing board. Bradley Quote Link to comment
