Patrick Fritsch
Jim, I recall Christian bringing this up quite some time ago, has this bug not been fixed? See the random odd path of the guardrail on the attached. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 12, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 12, 2015 There are a number of bugs similar to this with handrails that have been fixed, but I don't see this specific one. Post that stair here please and I can resubmit it if need be. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
It is not a bug - it is a feature I think you have to include the last or first (virtual) step of the stair in the rail geometry. The lower stair's railing can't meet the height of the railing at the middle platform as it is now. And I think it needs the height there that nobody falls over. Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Jim, here is the Stair pasted into a blank file? Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Pat, This is always an interesting subject as there never seems enough options to adjust. Geometrically for theses type of stairs to work with the handrails in real life is to return the landing around 1 tread width and that allow the handrails to flow around. Refer to attached file. otherwise you need to option to break the handrail at certain points as the builder would not usually make the rail to jump up vertically as is required if the rail continues. The other thing I see in this file is the posts go through to the tread below the landing, also there is no option to start and stop the bottom and top post position on the tread, it seems to start at the bottom of the tread if you select the post on the stair. Any way just some observations. Alan Edited February 13, 2015 by Alan777 Quote Link to comment
AlanW
How do you upload a file?? Sorry Found it!! Edited February 13, 2015 by Alan777 Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Thanks Alan, I guess I will have to model the handrail from scratch as I need them to be inline at the landing. Jim this is still not acceptable behavior for the stair plugin and I would file this as bug to have it corrected. It's a pretty common situation. Quote Link to comment
