Patrick Fritsch
One would expect the surface hatches embedded in textures to follow the rotation and scaling when manipulated via the OIP but alas it fails to. See attached. The obvious work around is to create texture duplicates for each required rotation, mapping type and scale, but that makes the option available in the OIP pretty redundant and useless. willofmaine
I've been having this problem. At first I thought it was just with sweeps. Then, extrudes and/or EAPs with curves in their profiles. Tonight, a simple extruded rectangle, and the texture and hatch are rotated 90º with respect to each other... Jim, I'll send a file to "tech@vectorworks.net," in case it's helpful... Thanks, Will VWIS046 Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
This issue seems to persist in VW 2016. I'll submit a bug report. VWIS046 Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
Seven years and two weeks later, and textures and their surface hatches are still sometimes 90º apart. See attached. VWIS046 05-Confirmation that Problem Persists in VW 2021.vwx Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted November 29, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 29, 2021 Hello @willofmaine Surface hatches only match textures when the map type is either Plane or Auto-Align Plane. The other map types will show mismatch between textures and surface hatches, because hatches cannot stretch around a curve. Hatches are always face-on, not projected like textures are. willofmaine
I'm not going to say I understand why the software can't be written to keep the texture and hatch aligned but, yes, your suggestion to use "Auto-Align Plane" appears to re-coordinate the texture and hatch, so thank you for that. Thanks! 1 Quote Link to comment
