Phil hunt
just opened a 2014 model in 2015 with the above switched on but the lines seems very jagged in the model, anyone else had this problem? phil Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
just checked the model in 2014 and its fine but in 15 the lines appear as if the anti-aliasing is turned of but i have checked this option in the preference box Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 15, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) In what rendering mode do they look jagged? Final Quality Renderworks? EDIT: If you could, please post a shot of what you are seeing: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/892/How+to+take+a+Screen+Shot Edited October 15, 2014 by JimW Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
these are the screen grabs from 2014 and 2015 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 15, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) This looks like the line weight correction. Before in 2014 (and prior) an overly thick line weight was used, this has been fixed in 2015 to be compatible with higher def displays, Retina, 4K, etc. you can see a wobble in the 2014 screenshot as well, it just has overly thick lines. If you render in a Renderworks mode you shouldn't see any jagged edges, but in wireframe or OpenGL you may, they're just designed to be fast rather than smooth. You may be able to tweak this slightly with Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > 3D > 3D Conversion Res, but Vectorworks will only create perfectly smooth lines in the real rendering modes. Phil hunt
Thanks for that Jim, just seemed a lot different on screen to 2014 but I am sure I will get used to it again thanks Jim Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Hmmh, I like image version 2015 better. I'ld like to see both drawings at the same scale. I have more problems with jagged lines in antialized OpenGL views Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 15, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 15, 2014 OpenGL I know they will be updating. it was originally just intended as a quick design mode, but since 2015 it got so fast and many users wanted to use it for presentation as well, so it looks like it will be getting a lot of love next time around. zoomer
Not a big issue, just always wanted to switch AA on and realized it was. But looking forward to the smooth version with extra love. Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
i have to say i still don't think anti aliasing is right on my screen i have just zoomed in some lettering at 5949% in V2015 and the same file in V2014 and also on the iso views 2015 and 14 @ 2056% these are the results see screen grabs i understand from the previous explanation that this may be the norm for 2015 but in 2014 in an iso view on my screen its so much more sharp Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
and this is the main iso view in v15 Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
I don't like the system Vw uses for a lot of features, where it's just a check box with no control. Anti aliasing is not just an Off/On proposition. Users should have levels of control for this. Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
hi grant it doesn't seem to make any difference in an iso view of the box is checked or not the view on screen i have now in 15 is horrible compared to 14 in plan and elevation fine..... Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
oh and my 3d setting is on high... Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
jim its looks ragged in a general wireframe view iso or perspective i don't use V15 for my renders just modelling with the occasional white model in renderworks Quote Link to comment
