John Whyte
Ive got a 3D model that im generating sections and plans from (like the image below). I need to put dims and notes on the drawing, but if i put the dims and notes on the model itself the dims and notes will show up in multiple sections / viewports. Is there a way i can place them on my drawing so that they only show up in one viewport without them showing up in other viewports. Edited February 14, 2014 by John Whyte Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
While in the sheet layer if you double click the view port and select annotations. You can know add your call-outs or dimensions and they will apply to that view port only. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
While annotations (in a viewport) are the accepted norm, you can also place dimensions (or anything else) into a design layer on discreet class and then make the class visible or not in any particular viewport or saved view... Phil hunt
hi peter i didn't know you could dimension a model and then it shows up on all viewports which will be great for me so i tried it on my model but when updating the viewport the dimensions that i added to the model didn't show up on the viewports. i must be doing something wrong but i am on the correct layer when adding the dimensions also i guess you have to go to the front elevation to dimension for it to show up on the front elevation in the viewport at the moment i dimension and add notes by using annotations Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Two things to check, at least to start with. 1) Make sure that the Dimension Class is ON/Visible in the Viewport. 2) Make sure that the Dimensions you place are "Layer Plane" objects, not "Screen Plane" objects? Also, depending on which Render Mode is being used in the VP, text and dimensions may not show up. Quote Link to comment
Phil hunt
Thanks Peter I didn't check what plane the dims area on and I'm rendering hidden line Quote Link to comment
