jupiter
Hi, We have upgraded from VW 2008 to 2013, however, we only have Fundamentals, not Architect!! Is it a waste of time to try to use fundamentals as a BIM type programme? (We are not exactly 3d literate in our office) Is trying to attempt to model anything complex in fundamentals impossible? e.g. I've already realised I cannot save different wall styles and right now I cant seem to get a corner window to work!! Jeffrey W Ouellette
Yes, it is a waste of time trying to use Fundamentals as a BIM tool. It is best to upgrade to Architect. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
Jupiter, please don't post the same post in multiple forum. Edited April 8, 2013 by Jonathan Pickup Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
This depends on what you want to accomplish in BIM. BIM has a broad meaning and you must first determine what and how far you want to take it, then you have to look if it is possible with fundamentals. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I'm with Jeffrey. Waste of time. Unfortunately, because of the way VW works, you'll also need Renderworks. And if you can afford it get Designer instead of Architect too, as this will provide more options when it comes to modelling projects with trees and landscaping. Quote Link to comment
jupiter
Sorry Jonathan Pickup... Thanks for the advice, I will look into costs for upgrading I think! Quote Link to comment
Bob Holtzmann
One Fundamentals workaround to not having Architect's Wall Styles is to use the Eyedropper Tool to configure similar walls. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
One Fundamentals workaround to not having Architect's Wall Styles is to use the Eyedropper Tool to configure similar walls. I only use wall styles to 'save' wall in our library. In fundamentals, you can do this by saving a piece of wall as a symbol. Quote Link to comment
jupiter
Yes, I've been using the eyedropper. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
