DE-Tech
Can anybody tell me if there is a command/tool in Vectorworks similar to the Stretch command in AutoCAD i.e. something to move the vertices/endpoints of objects within the selecting marquee box? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted March 9, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 9, 2013 Hi Yes, use the Reshape tool. Select the first mode (Move Vertex Mode) and then click and drag a marquee around the points you want to move. Then, click and drag to move the points. Only the selected points will move. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
For polygons and polylines, the Reshape tool offers this. Select the object, enable the Reshape tool in Move mode, drag a marquee or lasso (toggle these in the in the Mode bar). Hover over any of the points in the marquee and drag - the surrounded points move together. No equivalent for lines, squares, arcs, circles, ovals or objects in containers (groups, symbols, Viewports), except to drag the bounding handles which rescales the whole object in direction of the drag. A workaround is to select the object and Convert to Polygon or For Meshes, just drag a marquee around the desired points and drag them. Don't dbl click to enter the edit mode, as that "disconnects" the facets so they move individually. Post a specific need. There is probably a way to accomplish your goal. -B Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Doh! Good one, Tamsin - You got there first. Quote Link to comment
Monadnoc
Benson, I think the 2D Reshape Tool will work on lines. And rectangles (although it automatically converts it to a polygon). Edited March 9, 2013 by Monadnoc Quote Link to comment
DE-Tech
Hi Tamsin, Thanks for your help. It's a little bit more convoluted to what I'm used to but it got the end result that I was after. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Right, Monadnoc - Good call. The Reshape/Move does not initially reshape a rectangle or line - tool does not activate the handles. But if the Reshape tool marquee is dragged around points of a rectangle, they can be moved and the object is automatically converted to a polygon. Sort of same for a line. Reshape/Move does not activate the end points to move them. But drag a Reshape marquee around the end point and it will move with the tool. Probably easier to just move it with the Select tool! -B Quote Link to comment
