key shortcut for lasso selection from rectangular

My selection default method is rectangular selection mode... however everyonce in a while I hit something that quickly changes it to lasso or polygon selection... what am I hitting on my keyboard to get this shortcut...

anyone know?

I do this all the time... but i don't know what I do... I'd like to replicate this when I actually need it if anyone knows what I'm hitting.

when you are using any tool, the keyboard has shortcuts to the mode groups.

U key toggles the first group

I key second group

O key third group

P key fourth group

Those keys rotate through the tool modes.

With th selection tool active hit those keys repeatedly while watching the mode bar

Works on every tool with modes

... that works... I thought I was hitting something on the left side of the keyboard though like and alt+ something... not sure what though... but those definitely work as well. thanks
