DCarpenter
I'm looking for documentation that tells me how to make my PIO work regardless of weather or not the user is working in metric or Imperial units. I remember seeing it once, but for the life of me, I just can't find it now. Thanks for your time to answer. Dave Quote Link to comment
Jim Smith
We go back & forth between the two systems all the time and all we do is type the either inches ( " ) or millimetres ( mm ) after the integer. For example: My Document preference is set to millimetres. I want to mandate a 7 7/8" tread rise maximum in my Stair PIO. I would type 7 7/8" (or 7.825") . Works the other way too. Need to mandate a handrail extension to 300 mm on an imperial drawing? Type 300mm & VW will make the conversion. BTW, I have two custom Dimensions that call out my secondary (Imperial) dimensions so I can issue some clarifications to trades who are more comfortable working in Imperial. This can work the other way around if one sets their Secondary Units to millimetres. Quote Link to comment
DCarpenter
Thanks Jim, I am familiar with the flexibility of VW to use either 20" or 20mm as a way of inputting distances within VW, but what I'm looking for is for vectorscripting within a PIO script. If the script calculates something at 18", but the user is working in meters the PIO fails to operate correctly. I thought I remembered a document that explains this but I can't seen to find it. I hope someone out there can help. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted November 9, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 9, 2012 Post over in the Vectoscript Forum, you will get a lot more help there. There are calls to get document units, dialog controls and other calls that automatically take document units and unit marks into consideration. Quote Link to comment
