0 Kevin McAllister
Vincent, Viewport names are one of my biggest peeves of VW. You can change the name quite easily, but its at the top of the Data tab, not the Shape Tab in the OIP. Personally I think having a Drawing Name and a Viewport Name is redundant and I wish there was an option to make them both the same automatically. I always make them the same via cut and paste, switching tabs each time to do it. Kevin Quote Link to comment
0 Dieter @ DWorks
Vincent, you just need to 'force' you to name the viewport when creating it. I know it takes time, but then you'll not get into trouble later on like you show. This is one of the first things I teach about viewports. The organization of the drawing is the most important thing! Quote Link to comment
0 Kevin McAllister
Did you notice in Bill Knight's preview video there is a checkbox in the new Detail Viewport creation dialog which says "Name Viewport as Dwg No. / Sheet No."? This makes me very excited! Kevin Quote Link to comment
0 Jonathan Pickup
The location of the final viewport is linked to the reference, when you move the viewport to a new sheet layer, or change the viewport number, the reference updates. Quote Link to comment
0 MullinRJ
Vincent, ???Though I don't disagree with your request for a better interface, the names of the viewports you show in your screenshots are displayed at the BOTTOM of the OIP. Not the most obvious place to catch your eye, and you still have to switch to the DATA pane to change them, but they do display when selected, just not prominently. Raymond Quote Link to comment
0 Dieter @ DWorks
In VW2013, the different tabs of the oip can be on different palettes, so that will be handy to show the name at all times. Quote Link to comment
0 Dieter @ DWorks
It seems I am wrong about the different tabs. I had never noticed before that the title of the palettes changed depending on the active tab. That's the reason I assumed the above. Quote Link to comment
