James Russell
Hi all, Just creating a new titleblock and I wanted to place the fields for ':Proj No' and ':Dwg No' at both the top and bottom of the page but when I do only one of each is filled and the second remains the base text. Any suggestions? J Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Have you tried duplicating the one that works or attaching text to record for the one that doesn't? Quote Link to comment
James Russell
Indeedy to both of these. It seems to take the last created as the primary field and use that. It isn't possible to link the text to the record from within the VAA TB Resources file because the record isn't present within the file. I can only presume it is generated within the VAA Sheet Border script. I'm waiting for a spark of inspiration to figure it out... Waiting... Cheers, J Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
how about selecting both when linking record. Quote Link to comment
James Russell
When working in the VAA Title Block there is no physical linking of records unfortunately. It's all based on a prefix system which is then associated within the script upon insertion into a "real" document. For example ':Client Name' represents the client name field in the record VAA_Titleblock created in your real document. I wish it were as simple as referencing the record field on two pieces of text. Unless anyone can inform me otherwise on this, which I would gladly very much like to know. Cheers, J Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
i'm sorry, you need to link text to record that is when you could select the two areas. I am assuming you are creating a TB from scratch. I will play with this though and get back to you. Quote Link to comment
James Russell
It's a tricky one for sure Bryan. At the moment I'm just testing on a default one provided in the library. Duplicating and testing the fields to see how they respond. I will also play but it would be great to have fellow explorers on board! J Quote Link to comment
Farookey
Hi... havent tried it myself, to see why your method isn't working. However, a possible work around would be to have 2 separate title blocks... One on the other. With one showing the info you want at the top, and the other at the bottom. Just an idea... Bryan G.
James, If you create a new title block you can link the record format to as many fields as you choose. I just tried it an it does work. I have not yet played with an existing file but I would think you can do it. PS. you have to select the individual fields separately and apply the same format Quote Link to comment
Farookey
I have also tried it by duplicating the existing field (eg. client name field), and moving it to another location. This was done on a custom title block, and it works seamlessly. If it does not work for you... maybe it is a version issue... I am using VW2011, and it seems that Bryan is using VW2012. Your latest version (from what I understand) is VW2010... will try it on that to see what results I get... Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
Yes Farookey is correct you can do this when in 2D edit mode. Quote Link to comment
Farookey
I can confirm that it works in VW2010, both the duplication way as well as 'Link Record to Text' method. Quote Link to comment
Bryan G.
Thanks, Farookey this one was interesting, was fun to try. I'll bet the weather is better in Barbados than here, Just snowed here. Quote Link to comment
Farookey
At the moment... YES!... weather is bright and HOT. Could probably do with a little snow. But of late (Past week or 2) we've had some heavy showers, bringing with it a slight coolness! That's as close as we would get to SNOW! And yes... problem solving in VW can (sometimes) be fun... James Russell
I too am able to copy and use multiple fields on standard custom titleblocks inserted along with the a sheet border. Are you guys able to duplicate these items for VAA Title Blocks? And if so can you explain your process. At the moment I've tried: Copying fields within VAA TB Resources file. Editing VAA Titleblock after insertion in resource folder. Renaming other field to share name. Placing blank characters in identifier tag. Thanks for your help with this. Just needing to confirm that it can be done for VAA Title Blocks. Cheers, James Quote Link to comment
