Kizza
Is it possible to edit the names of the wall styles which come with VW 2012 rather than duplicating? I've opened the walls file located in the VW application library folder and changed the names there but has no effect Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Have you restarted VW? I think the default content is only read in when VW launches. Quote Link to comment
Kizza
You're right, the default content is read on startup. basically i want to add new wall styles, delete ones I'll never use (to keep the list short) and rename others to something more appropriate for me. Might be better if I create my own wall style library in a separate folder for backup / upgrade reasons. Can I export wall styles from the default to a new folder? from there I can edit to my hearts content. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Kizza, what you want can be achieved through library management. Some topic specific training through Ozcad's Sydney trainers or Archoncad might be appropriate. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The place to store your own libraries is in your user folder: User:Library:Application Support:Vectorworks:2011:Libraries:Defaults. Find the right folder and create a new VW file there with the resources you want to show in the default content. Quote Link to comment
Kizza
Thanks for that, I was looking in the Library>Defaults under applications in the finder. User:Library:Application Support:Vectorworks:2011:Libraries:Defaults files are empty-I assume that you populate them yourself? Mike M Oz - Thanks for the suggestion, 2012 training resources are not complete as of yet. Edited September 21, 2011 by Kizza Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
VW looks in multiple locations. 1. User folder (yes, you need to populate the defaults there yourself) 2. Project folder (if you have one set in the Preferences) 3. Application folder (you need to delete the files there is you don't want those defaults). Quote Link to comment
