willofmaine
Is there a way to snap to a point between two other points without having to first draw an object between the two points, such as a line, and then snap to its midpoint? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted September 16, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 16, 2011 Yes. Make sure you have Snap to Object turned on in your Snapping palette. Choose your drawing tool, hover the mouse over the first reference point and notice the cursor will "acquire" the point. Move the mouse to the second reference point and acquire that also. A midpoint snap will be displayed between the two points. Click on the midpoint and start drawing. Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
Nice; I was pretty sure it could do this. I guess I just wasn't hovering long enough and/or looking for the red square. Also, I guess it won't work with edges, just points. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
If you did not already, explore different settings in the snap preferences. Dbl click any of the snap boxes in the snap palette to enter the snap prefs dialog. Adjust acquire times for smart points and smart edges. Too quick and unintended points get acquired, too slow and drawing process slows. In Smart Edge tab, the Bisector or other options might be what you are looking for in edge related snaps.
