rDesign
This is a good one. In Vw2010 I created a stair with the new Stair PIO (not Simple Stair), and if I set the construction to be 'stringers outside' the 3d stringer geometry goes down almost 6 miles (not kidding). If I change it to 'stringers underneath', it's fine (or as good as the plugin allows). While this is obviously a bug in 2010, is the new Stair tool any better in Vw2011? I wish that if NV takes the effort to rewrite a tool, make it better and more robust than the tool it is replacing. And also make sure that it actually works. Regards, Tim Quote Link to comment
billtheia
I just opened that file in VW2011 & it did the same thing. I almost never use the "Stair" tool, I use the "Custom Stair" tool because I find it to be less cumbersome to use and it allows me to link it to 2 layers so that I only have to draw it once. rDesign
Yeah - I need to add the Custom Stair back to my workspace: I miss the ability to link a stair to two layers as well. Thanks for taking a look at it. I've already submitted a bug report for this. Tim Quote Link to comment
beanus
I never use the new stair tool too complicated the old stair tool is much better, quicker to use & shows on two layers, why make things so complicated? Edited March 18, 2011 by beanus Quote Link to comment
billtheia
I never use the new stair...why make things so complicated? I suspect that NVW did so in an effort to answer user requests for a more competent stair tool. One that more accurately created stairs and one that was more configurable. Unfortunately, what they did was buy an third-party tool that was completely different than the existing tool and lacked a few, essential, features. Bummer. Quote Link to comment
