Great minds think alike I was actually thinking vw should create floor plans the exact same way. Good wish and it makes perfect sense. This way we can concentrate on the model which should be more BIM-like. I would suggest though that no extra work should be done like placing section lines denoting cutting planes for the plan. Instead the z hights in the layers setup box should act as those cutting lines. Quote Link to comment

This seems less about overall layer functionality, and more about software & workflow designed for layer-with-z-height linked to building level. Problems associated with windows, walls, stairs etc which span the drawing layers fill these forums. BIM/3d modeling as DM suggests makes a whole lot of sense. I use layers in lots of other ways to view, organize and sort my drawings. I hope to keep that functionality. -B Quote Link to comment
