Canucklehead
Either my meds are off, or roof hatches don't exist in VW 2009. Tell me its my meds I hope. Where are the roof hatches???? Tom Mac, VW 2009, SP5 Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Hi Tom, I'm sure they are there (somewhere!). However I have actually found that for consistency sake, and b/c I like the hatches I have used for long time, I just keep revising my original hatch resource file. This is easy to do (with any resources, not just hatches): 1) In the older version's folder, find the the resource file that you wish to bring into the newer version. 2) Drag a copy (NOT the original) out onto your desktop. 3) Open the copy withe the newer version and re-save with desired name. 4) Drag the newly saved file into the appropriate resource folder of the new version. 5) Quit and restart the newer version and then add the new resource to your list of favorites. Find the resource folders here: HD/Applications/VW's/Library/Hatches(eg) Hope that helps. PS: The only reasons I can think of not to use the above method are a) you might miss a newly added resource in the shipped version! b) when big format changes are made making the older resources less than optimally compatible with newer versions. But for the most part things like hatches, textures, etc haven't changed much (if at all) in a long time... Quote Link to comment
Canucklehead
Thanks Peter. I have only begun with VW2009 so I have no older hatches to reference. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
OK, here is a small file containing two very basic roof shingle hatches. All you need to do is open it and you will have access to both hatches via the resource browser. Happy New Year ;-) Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
FWIW, I actually "created" these by starting out with one the "brick" hatches that ships with VW's, then modifying it (very slightly) to get what I needed... Quote Link to comment
Canucklehead
Well thank you Sir Peter. Upon trying to open .... I get this .... Quote Link to comment

Canucklehead
Peter. You mentioned farting around with the brick hatch. I had actually done that at the beginning but kept thinking there HAS to be a roof hatch with a $1k+ program that is used for designing buildings!!!!!!! michaelk
Orso Schmidt just posted a ton of hatches in the Vectorworks Share - Hatch forum. Some roof hatches included. http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=134684#Post134684 Quote Link to comment
Kool Aid
I know what thatched roofs are, but obviously hatched roofs are something different. (Never seen a roof egg? Designed guite a few buildings in the past 30 years without hatched roofs.) Quote Link to comment
