0 islandmon
Indeed ... this simple rule applies to all duplicates wherever they may be ... Quote Link to comment
0 brudgers
It would be neat if the list didn't reset everytime I made a change. Indeed, it would be neat if the list would remember where I was in each of the various documents. Quote Link to comment

0 AndiACD
Christiaan, i think maybe a dialogue should open when you choose to duplicate a Symbol offering you the choice of the original or the duplicate to be selected, as sometimes i like to keep the copy as an original i can go back to if i need it and modify the original, so all instances in the drawing get updated as i edit it. Great Wish all the same. Quote Link to comment
0 bc
May be better as a Vectorworks Preference rather than having to answer the dialog every time...perhaps similar to the Offset Duplicates preference. Edited October 6, 2010 by bc Quote Link to comment
0 AndiACD
i suppose that could work too Bradley, but as you are presented with a dialogue that asks if you wish Edit the 2D or 3D aspect of a Symbol, i feel i'd prefer a choice as and when, rather than having to root through the Prefs tabs to reach the option for the "Duplicate Symbols", each time i have to change from duplicate to original and vice versa. 0 bc
I thought editing a symbol and having the duplicate become the active symbol were two different issues. Quote Link to comment
0 AndiACD
Yes they are. Just using it as a comparison. Quote Link to comment
0 bc
Well, not that I need to but, I guess I don't understand your point. Quote Link to comment
0 AndiACD
Well, when you select a Symbol in the RB and choose Edit, you get a dialogue with 4(i think) choices. i'm suggesting that by choosing "Duplicate" in the RB dropdown, for me at least, instead of just being obliged to take a fixed result, it would be much more helpful if a choice were offered each time to allow to select the original OR the duplicate. If that causes problems a "Don't show this dialogue again" check could be included for those that don't need the choice. Quote Link to comment
0 bc
I see now, well and good. Quote Link to comment
