BrendanFella
Do most of you add graphics.....Logos, photos etc. to your final rendering in Renderworks or Photoshop / illustrator. Also is there pros and cons to method used. I am having some problem adding as a "texture" as I can't seem to get a single image..(repeat tile pattern). I have been successful with your help getting an image in using "Image Prop". But would it be easier using or better using Photoshop etc. Thank you for any help. Quote Link to comment
gmm18
You can certainly do more if you take it into Photoshop, which might prove to be the best solution if you want to do a lot of other image editing, but I generally prefer to stay in Vectorworks if at all possible, it is just quicker. Rather than using an image prop, or renderworks background, to create your image... 1.) Simple method for getting images: File->Import->Image. Right on your sheet layer. Or if you are going to want to crop the image right in VW, then place it on a separate design layer, then create a Viewport of it with a crop. 2.) I explained this strategy using Image Fills in another post (link below). The benefit of this method is that you can use the Attribute Mapping tool, which is a really quick way of manipulating image size, placement, and orientation. (note I was using 2008, but you can do exactly the same thing in VW12, the little tool icons just look a little different). http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=22610&Number=105634#Post105634 Quote Link to comment
BrendanFella
Thanks gmm, I am getting my images into my rendering now using both methods. However I tried bringing in a "Company Logo" from a Photoshop image. .PSD, JPG, GIF The original has NO background. (Renderworks 12.5) I wanted to have the look of it floating on the wall but no matter what I do I can't get it without a BACKGROUND. Vectorworks is putting it on various colored panels. I have tried it as an IMAGE and as a TEXTURE. Is this a photoshop problem or Renderworks? I must say you guys have been fantastic with your help and hopefull I will actually be able to answer others questions some day. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Have you tried the Mask Transparency during texture creation? The Edit/Options button allows you to pick the background color (or other color in the image) as transparent. -B Quote Link to comment
BrendanFella
Thank you Benson, That worked great. I think I was so excited that I finally got to import a texture/prop image that I was rushing what I was doing and figured the transparency button would make my whole image transparent. So I learned a valuable lesson about bypassing the options. Thank you again. Quote Link to comment
