Peter Eichel
Why can't I get the exterior trim on half round windows to render? The trim renders in Open GL & fast renderworks but disappears when I use the final rendering mode. What am I missing here? Win XP Designer 12.5.2 Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Peter, seems like a bug to me. I just tried it and am finding the same problem. Not only with "half round" but with many of the other shapes as well. I will file the bug, and hopefully it will be addressed soon ;-) Quote Link to comment
islandmon
What am I missing here? ... seems like a bug to me. If this is true ... what tha @#%$ ??? like ... getting into your new car and discovering that your windows only roll-up half way.... and hopefully it will be addressed soon ;-) Quote Link to comment
Guest
This is true for 2008 and 12.5.2. It appears to apply to all transoms and top shapes that have a curve in it. For NNA's sake, if you ungroup the window in 3D, and look into the geometry, the Jam and the sash for these elements are extruded from an open polyline. So instead of extruding a solid surface, it extrudes the lines only. To verify this, just ungroup the window, and continue to edit group until you get to the jam, and them edit the extrude to get to the 2D element. You'll see the mistake right away. Why it works in Open GL and Fast Renderworks, I don't know. The workaround is tedious, but in essence, you have to create a symbol from the window, and then edit the symbol by ungrouping the window (now it is no longer parametric). You can then edit the open polylines by making them into closed polylines, and the extrude will work. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted November 20, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 20, 2007 (edited) This is a bug. Mike is right about the open polylines causing the problem. The workaround is to use Custom RenderWorks mode with Use NURBS turned off. This bug is fixed for the next maintenance release.
