beanus
how do you create a tool that does the job of a menu item for example the make guide menu item or clip or add surface? Quote Link to comment
jan15
A tool determines what happens as you move the cursor and click. A menu command is an action taken on pre-selected objects. If you could make a tool do what a command does, it wouldn't be a tool. If you want a tool that does something similar to what a certain command does, you may be able to create it using VectorScript. beanus
OK what about a button that does the job of a menu item? Quote Link to comment
Guest
What is the need for this? If it's for easy access, simply add the menu to the right-click functions of the mouse using the Workspace Editor. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
While VW doesn't really support the concept of "buttons", you could create a (or many) script palette that would fire the menu commands with a double click. The script would be similar to the following: DoMenuTextByName('Guides',1); The details of the names and numbers needed for the command are found in the VectorWorks appendix of the help files. Petri
A keyboard shortcut? I've eg. had "Command +" and "Command -" for adding & clipping surfaces for years. Workspace Editor again! Quote Link to comment
