Petri
The advent of the Brave New VectorWorks seems to have made Macs & PCs incompatible. A PC-VW file, when either emailed or copied onto a memory stick, becomes a "UNIX Executable" on the Mac and cannot be opened with anything. Great going! Quote Link to comment

Petri
Really? Well, I'm a bit wary of Greeks carrying gifts or positive messages. Am I too up North? Quote Link to comment
Hugo
Just select the file on the Mac, Click Command + i for file info, and in the open with section, select the Vectorworks application from its folder. If you can't select it, be sure to use all available applications from the menu, not the "recommended ones", at the top of the window. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Petri, Do what Hugo says, but I would add two things: 1) In the "get info" window you may need to change the "recommended apps" pulldown to "all apps" in order to make VW's 12.5 available (ie: not grayed). 2) After opening, do a "Save As" and the file will then display its proper icon and will open as expected (by double clicking, or dragging to the dock icon). I agree with you that this behavior is odd. Someone explained the reason to me once, but I have forgotten why it happens. I just wish it didn't... Quote Link to comment
Petri
OK - seemed to work... Thanks, Hugo & Peter. "All applications" was indeed needed. Quote Link to comment
