jeffharris
I use worksheets for all kinds of lists. I wanted to use some simple spreadsheet formulas for Window & Door energy calculations. 5 windows x 12.8 sq ft of glazing = ? I don't seem to be able to get the thing to multiply! Or divide. Any workarounds? (PowerBook G4, Mac OS X 10.4.8, VectorWorks Designer 12.5) Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
use the formula =5*12.8 to make a formula add the ?=? to the beginning. * = times / = divide My Essential manual covers basic worksheets for calculating areas and scheduling information https://plus36.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php Quote Link to comment
cbaarch
if you create a polygon for the window and in the DATA tab you give it a name you can then use the following in the spreadsheet =AREA((N='name'))/144 the /144 is required to get sq.ft. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
If the window is a symbol then you can =Count(S='NameWindowSymbol')*12.8 Quote Link to comment
Petri
...and also: if the glass is in a class, the formula is =AREA(C='classname') or, if you need to calculate different parts separately, eg. =area((L='layername') & (C='classname')) Now, a good door or window PIO would calculate the glass & opening areas. Some building codes have eg. a minimum % of glazing per sqm of floor space of habitable rooms and a maximum of (gross) window opening area for the building. Even R-value could be a part of the PIO, either as user input or, say, "normal" values for single, double, triple and quadruple (yes, Victoria, there is quadruple glazing!) glazings. But I digress...
