Hardscape objects are "hollow" when viewed in a clip cube?

Recommended Posts

Why are Hardscape slab objects "hollow" when viewed in a clip cube when Slab objects are filled with color?

Both the slab to the left and the hardscape to the right have the same components with the same materials

Slab is solid - Hardscape is 'hollow'

Am I setting them up wrong?

Or is there a reason that I'm not seeing.

...certainly doesn't make it easier to use clipcube images to explain to clients.

Because the Slab tool builds a solid and the Hardscape tool builds meshes.

Why the programers decided to do that is a mystery.

There is a popular conspiracy where there is an internal directive to make things intentionally confusing to boost the training side of the biz 🙂

@Jeff Prince I never noticed it before - it is just a bit odd.

They changed in VW2023. Prior to that they were solid when Clip Cubed. When you Command-K'd them you ended up with Roof Faces. Now, like Jeff says, you get Meshes.

In 2021 both Slabs and Hardscape were Floors.

Sometimes this program resembles a government roadway project, just repaving things to keep the crews busy and the budgets intact 🙂

I say this in jest, I'm sure there are very well thought-out reasons for this, kind of like how the color picker was redesigned.
