Esa K
Hi, A newbie to georeferencing and geoimage here. Sorry in advance as this has been probably answered truly many times. But I'd appreciate any help on this matter. I'm working in event production with handeling bigger outdoor events. I've earlier on just taken screeshots or something similar to showcase area. But now knowing that you can geoimage easily, would be great to use this feature in all projects. But with the ArcGIS the quality of the satellite picture is really low (attached is a screenshot, it gives me a best quality of 1300 in Helsinki area). Kartta.hel.fi which houses Helsinkis official maps has really good ortophotography. Is it possible to somehow get kartta.hel.fi image to geoimage and how? Attached is a screenshot of what kartta.hel.fi provides as service info. And if kartta.hel.fi is not useable, is there any other suggestions where I can get better quality picture. I'm using 16" Macbook Pro with M1 Max with 64Gb RAM Thanks again in advance! Quote Link to comment
TeeMuki
Hi! I will reply here, even i don't have the answer to you :(. I have tried to add Helsinki WMS and WFS servers to Vectorworks, but i can't get them work. It does find the data from the servers as in the picture below is visible, but when i try to download them it says "Unsupported service type. Select a different service." Below settings from the OIP: Would be really nice to get this tool to work properly! Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
You are probably best served by downloading the higher quality imagery and manually importing it. I say this because if you get it to work, don’t be surprised if it mysteriously breaks when you least expect it while working under deadline. If that web service you use exports geo tiff, the images might line up automatically in VWX. If not, you could manually align it using the ESRI imagery as a reference. Quote Link to comment

I'm thinking of contacting Helsinki map service if that would help on the issue. Do you know if there's a possibility to download geotiff from kartta.hel.fi? Sorry for offtopic from Vectorworks. Poot
I can't seem to find what the technical details are for the Helsinki map service...and usually orthophoto/imagery/raster web services work. Can you provide the link where you find the technical details on the map service? It can sometimes depend on whether you need to create an account with the map service portal, and add details like a username/id/password into the URL of the WMS/WFS for it to successfully work. The data should be completely open to use. With QGIS atleast the same service portal url works completely fine. To your first question i don't have the answer 😞 Maybe @Esa K has? Poot
Do you get the "unsupported service type" error when you have selected the WMS service (as shown in post above)? or only when you connect to the WFS? Quote Link to comment

Esa K
Hi, Returning on subject with good news. I contacted the service directly and now it works. Image quality is a bit questionnable but just needs to use smaller areas and combining them to get good enough quality. Attaching screenshots of my settings. 2 Quote Link to comment
Poot
What was the issue that fixed it @Esa K? Quote Link to comment
Esa K
Not quite sure. Just sent a message to the service provider and tried two days later. I guess they had something in their system that blocked it be used via Vectorworks. Quote Link to comment
