Is there a way to reshape a roof?

 

For example when you have cut a section away from a roof but then want to re add the reshape tool does not allow you to modify the boundary, or, the Modify>Add surface tool does not work. You are able to cut / clip the shape of the roof but not add?

 

See example of very simple roof below where a cut has been made but can not be amended to be 'filled' back in or made smaller.

If you run Modify > Edit Group (or Command-[) you can access the original shape you clipped the Roof with + delete it to get the Roof back to how it was before. Or you can edit the shape to change the way that the Roof is clipped.

Also, it is possible to create a cut-out like that just using the Reshape tool (Add Vertex Mode) then converting edges to gables, if you wanted the option of editing the Roof shape afterwards using the selection handles.

Hi,

 

if you model the roof in three separate instances (left-, middle-, right-part)

you got more control over the Eva Cut of the hole.

 

I sometimes model my roofs with this technique.
