SDON
For VW 2024 - will it run smoothly on the following: M3 Pro 11-core CPU 14-core GPU 18 GB unified Memory 512 GB SSD Storage or M3 Pro 8-core CPU 10 core GPU 8GB Unified Memory 1TB Storage Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
I think you will be much happier with more memory. 32 to 64 GB is a better number for VW. I am working on a very large model in VW2024 on an M3Pro and VW is currently using 40GB of Real Memory. If you models are smaller, then you can get away with less, but more for higher memory now to make the machine last 3 years is cheaper than having to replace the machine in 18 months because you don't have enough memory. Personally, I went for 128GB and 4TB of SSD. I have run out of memory with this file on several occasions already. HTH Quote Link to comment
0 SDON
Thanks - Is yours a custom machine as the most powerful 14" machine available through apple is below and is at a hefty price point - thanks 14-core CPU 30-core GPU 36GB Unified Memory 1TB SSD Storage¹ Edited January 15 by SDON Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
High End 16". The only other upgrade I could have done was 8TB of SSD. And yes, it was very expensive. But I have already saved more time versus my older i9 MBP to pay for itself. 2 Quote Link to comment
0 VIRTUALENVIRONS
I agree with Pat, the more RAM the better. Having said that, I only took the default 18 GG RAM it came with because of the cost and I don't anticipate extremely large files in my future. But, I am running very smoothly and quickly with 200 MB files, processing animations very well. 2 Quote Link to comment
