New Mac Book Pro for VW 2024

Question

For VW 2024  - will it run smoothly on the following:

M3 Pro

11-core CPU 14-core GPU

18 GB unified Memory

512 GB SSD Storage 

 

or 

M3 Pro 

8-core CPU 10 core GPU

8GB Unified Memory 

1TB Storage

I think you will be much happier with more memory.  32 to 64 GB is a better number for VW.

 

I am working on a very large model in VW2024 on an M3Pro and VW is currently using 40GB of Real Memory.

 

If you models are smaller, then you can get away with less, but more for higher memory now to make the machine last 3 years is cheaper than having to replace the machine in 18 months because you don't have enough memory.

 

Personally, I went for 128GB and 4TB of SSD.  I have run out of memory with this file on several occasions already.

Thanks - Is yours a custom machine as the most powerful 14"  machine available through apple is below and is  at a hefty price point - thanks

I agree with Pat, the more RAM the better.  Having said that, I only took the default 18 GG RAM it came with because of the cost and I don't anticipate extremely large files in my future.

 

But, I am running very smoothly and quickly with 200 MB files, processing animations very well.
