0 Pat Stanford
What hardware and operating system are you running? Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 6, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 6, 2023 @Stuart Best This and your other post about not being able to create textures sounds like it may be a problem with Renderworks initializing. I am guessing none of the Renderworks render modes show in the render menu? Quote Link to comment
0 Anton Kajfez
I'm having the same issues with Renderworks. I think it may have something to do with a recent OS upgrade. I'm tempted to just reinstall the software, but I don't want to corrupt any settings that I've put in place. I'm also concerned that the reinstall won't recognize my serial number/license and I'm not sure where the virtual documents with that information are. I'm running VW 2021 with a perpetual license on an imac now running 11.7.2. Any suggestions for safely restoring VW to its operational condition? Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 6, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 6, 2023 @Anton Kajfez for Vectorworks 2021 Cineware was a separate application and you could look in Activity Monitor to see if it is running or not, it will be listed as a separate process than Vectorworks. Thanks Dave. Activity Monitor shows no sign of it running, but I found the Cineware app and launched it. Activity Monitor doesn't reflect that it's running, but I'm able to render things. The only way I can create a new Renderworks texture is to duplicate an existing one and then edit. There seems to be a lot of buggy-ness to how things are running. Do any of these things sound familiar? Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 7, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 7, 2023 Hello @Anton Kajfez No that does not sound familiar to me. The Edit Texture dialog comes up and shows a preview of the texture? Is this an old computer, how well does it match the system requirements for Vectorworks 2021 and Cineware R22? (I don't remember offhand which Cineware R version Vectorworks 2021 used, maybe around R21 or R22). https://www.vectorworks.net/sysreq?version=2021. https://www.maxon.net/en/requirements/cinema-4d-s22-requirements Quote Link to comment
0 Anton Kajfez
Thanks again, Dave. My computer is old by technology standards, but does meet/exceed requirements. And yes, the Edit Texture dialog comes up and shows a preview of the texture, but only when I choose the duplicate and edit texture option. Trying to create a new texture from the Resource Manager simply closes the RM window. I am able to create new hatches and other options from the drop down menu. Another thing that happens after duplicating and editing a texture, the preview/thumbnail in the RM and in the Object Info window look corrupted. (see attached screen shot, specifically the Grass Cloth textures created today). It's hard to not associate these new problems with my recent "upgrade" to Mac Big Sur, though it could be coincidental. Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 7, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 7, 2023 Very strange, the thumbnails look like they didn't render at all, if they didn't render you would end up with random digital noise like this, it's just random memory that didn't get overwritten by a real rendering. Can you bring up the Artistic Renderworks Options? What does that look like? If you use Vectorworks for a few minutes do the options related to textures disappear later? If Renderworks is not working the textures etc will become disabled after giving Cineware some time to launch. Quote Link to comment
0 Anton Kajfez
I can bring up the Artistic Renderworks Options, but the preview window is black regardless of selecting any of the options. (see attachment). Even though I've directly opened the Cineware app, it still does not show in the Activity Monitor. I've even replaced the app from a backup thinking it might have gotten corrupted, but the restored version is also not seen by the system. At this point, I am able to render things from Wireframe to OpenGL, all other rendering options will not even initiate a progress bar. There have been times when editing objects while OpenGL is running that the edited object will lose texture. Restarting the program fixes that problem. I've also attached an image of the Texture Editing window and everything seems to work ok. Any other possible fixes you can think of? Quote Link to comment
0 tpenna
I am having this same problem. Running VW 2024 Update 3.1 (Build 739493) on a Windows 10 machine. I can go to View > Rendering > Shaded Options and tick the Draw Edges box and click OK. When I return to the drawing the edges aren't there. When I go back to Shaded Options the Draw Edges box is no longer ticked. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
