A little Help? Data tags just went very weird...

hollister design Studio

Question

Just published to PDF and when I printed, I noticed all my plant label Data Tags leader lines went very odd.

The lines got a reversed arrowhead on the second segment and the long rectangle arrowhead (a custom shape that I usually use form material callouts) is at the end of the first segment.

I normally don't have any arrow on my plant data tags.

Also, you can see in the screen grab that the line arrow selection in the attributes tab has gone gray.

This affected two types of plant data tags (plant count and tree lables) but none of my other data tags (like material callouts and hardware assignments).

Here is an example of the normal Data Tag I use:

Any thoughts on how to reverse this?

I've had something similar a couple of times:

And I can't say for certain what I did to remedy it but was something to do with class attributes - I'd set an arrow head by class somewhere else + for some reason it was turning up on my data tags. I did some fiddling around with the classes + something I did did the trick...

I poked around and found a fix for my issue.

Still have no idea why this happened.

  • It ONLY happened to Data tags on my 4 planting plans sheets - all of my other sheets were not effected.
  • It happened to 2 different Data Tags - my plant callouts and my new tree callouts.
  • The affected Data tags were on 2 separated classes.

The Fix:

  1. I tried setting the affected data tags to new classes. This did nothing.
  2. I set them back to their original classes. This did nothing.
  3. I noticed that with NOTHING SELECTED my 'line startpoint style" was set to an arrow. I did not set this on purpose.
  4. I set that back to 'None'. this did nothing at this point.
  5. I now set the data tags to a different class- again nothing - BUT
  6. When I set the data tags back this time the arrow heads returned to normal (ie None).
