Any Mac M1 users experimenting VWs 2022 CPU performance lag?

Ramon PG

Question

After few minutes my VWs 2022 seems to start this tug of war with the kernel_task. Things start progressively to become slower and slower. Sometime changing from one Sheet Layer to another can take half a minute, even more. restarting VWs helps dissipate whatever issue, only for it to start all over again after a while.

Is this a 2022 bug?

Are you using latest SP ?

AFAIR that happened often in early VW 2022s,

but was at least partially solved with later SPs.

At least most of these RAM issues with SLVP editing.

VW 2022,

first native Apple ARM VW version.

VW 2023,

first native AND optimized Apple ARM version.

MBP M1 Pro 32 MB at work...

Latest SP: Yes. Glitch still happens.

We were told in writing that M1 Macs did with with VWs 2022. That's why I recommended it to my boss.

I cant upgrade to 2023, my employer did not get the Service Select even when I insisted and I later was told that since 2023 has shipped we cannot buy SS, only upgrade... $$$.

It happens with both M1 Macs and both have SP6.

Ouch.

Not confident if VW 2022 will get another SP, but who knows.

I had not much VW 2022 experience at that time.

When I tried I had severe lags in SLVP editing and also seen

memory leaks. At one SP (4 or 5 ?) it was ok for me and my

superficial VW 2022 work but I still read some rare cases

of people still having memory leaks ...

I am not even sure if it was really VW 2022 (native ARM) or

VW 2021 (none native/via Rosetta2).

I just realized that native for ARM without Rosetta 2 need

did need less memory, so even realistically large projects

even ran fine on my 16 GB M1 Mini.

Maybe some other M1/VW 2022 users can chime in ?
