LB007
Hi Can anyone suggest how I can make the attached segment topped window in VW23. The custom tool will not let me turn off fanlight [greyed out] and if I use glazing bars I can't offset them to create a larger middle pane. Thanks Laurence Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
Depends what you want to do. Do you need to add these windows to a schedule or anything detailed like that? Or does it just need to look roughly right. If it's the later I'd be very tempted to use the one on the right and simply model an extrude for the horizontal element in position. If you move the window you'll need to move the extrude too. Edited October 24, 2022 by Christiaan 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks for suggestion. Kinda defeats the idea of BIM workflows. There are 7 or 8 differing sizes of the similar window in the scheme and seems a shame that we can't custom build windows that are 3d objects in their own right. Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
You can use the Use Symbol Geometry to generate any type of window that VW does not normally support. Just make a symbol of the window and in the General Pane of the Window Settings tell it to use that symbol as the geometry. What you will lose if the ability to parametrically change the values. You can set the Window parameters to whatever you want so it will show properly in the schedule, but, for example, changing the width parameter will not change what is drawn by the symbol geometry. To back up Christiaan, take the right window, Ungroup (convert to group) to get the basic geometry. Edit it to meet your needs and make a symbol from it. Then make a Window object using the Symbol Geometry. You will have a window that looks they way you want it. 2 Quote Link to comment
