Spiking RAM usage leading to crash

Anyone else experience gradual RAM increase while using VW? Often accompanied by a random usage spike hitting 20GB or more rendering the computer unusable? 

 

So far I've not seen a trigger for this. it can chug along quite happily at 5-8GB for a while then it suddenly shoots up using masses of Swap memory (thus degrading the SSD) and other times it will happen after a short while.

 

I realise 16GB is the lowest possible RAM for VW and upgrading to 64 soon but the randomness of it is concerning. The solution is to close VW every hour or so so it resets to a lower RAM usage until you click on a viewport the wrong way or something.

I had my largest problems with VW SLVP editing and memory leaks

that crashed the whole system.

AFAIR it was not much better on Windows.

 

After SP4 I experienced that I will also run into yellowish Memory Pressure

on M1 but that VW was able to free some Memory in between and give it

free temporarily again.

No comparison if editing/render times are realistic in VW 2022 on M1 but

at least it was possible to work at all since.

 

And I have no clue if more shared memory and more cores would really help.
